Rosell: “Cruyff is a symbol of Barca”
FC Barcelona president, Sandro Rosell, stressed today that former Barcelona player and coach Johan Cruyff is “without a doubt the symbol of Barcelona”, who is a “living legend” and that he “should be treated as such.”
Rosell told reporters during his meeting in Merida with the President of the Junta de Extremadura, Guillermo Fernandez Vara, that the creation of the position of Honorary President shall be voted upon at the next Assembly of commissioners, so Cruyff could be given back his honour. The position will be “democratically elected by the members of the club, because they are the true owners of the club,” said Rosell.
Regarding his meeting with Cesc Fabregas’ mother at the Circuit de Catalunya during the World Championships, Rosell has refused to speak of the possibility of signing the player because, in his view, “parents have to stay outside the football careers of their children. “

If Cruyff is given back his honour, I truly wonder why Rosell produced this whole episode. Just pure egoism and schism between him and Laporta? Barca won't deserve episodes like this. His acts may be fair and based on democracy but it surely won't seem that our club is united….Thank God, our team is united and the one which should be in the limelight, not Rosell.
Summa summarum: I don't know anything about Rosell and I am not saying that I don't respect him. Anyway, the respect should be earned…..I would want to respect our president.
He didnt really strip the title. The title didn't really exist. He's just sayin that like any other president, there needs to be a vote, and therefore he will let the members decide weather cruyff will be the president of honor.

It's so funny how someone wants to do the job the right way but is reprimanded for it cause a bunch of cry babies don't know anything and ride the wave emotions. take a breath and realize that almost everyone associated with the club agreed that cruyff was chosen the wrong way and rosell is correcting it but you know what if you feel you know what is best for barca based on your knowledge compared to rosell then by all means continue to be a b***h.

totally agree and as far as meeting cesc's mother its natural he as the president linked to the club for years if at an event she was at would greet her. anyone remember the stories of how his grandfather took him to the games ever since he was a child? i see nothing weird or no bad intentions in him meeting her or putting cruyff's position to a vote as even cruyff himself said he didn't believe he deserved it.
don't get me wrong im not an avid rosell supporter as one of the things about him that worries me is his talk of adopting a shirt sponsor and getting rid of unicef. for me the unicef deal is such a key and great sign of our identity it would be terrible to end it. however, the club members, cules such as ourselves who love the club just as much as we do elected him by a vast majority over everyone else. i'd like to think there's a reason for that.
For gods sake he's the president of FC Barcelona, show some damn respect people!

I have trust in Rosell even after all the negative rumors toward him. He just began his presidency and people criticizing him toward minor present or past mistakes. People! he made an error of what he done to Cruyff but he fix it and recognize his mistake. Only time will tell if he is a worthy Cule president, let's be patient and stop criticizing.
He could make voting an online activity so people like me don't have to haul their a**es to Barcelona to vote.
But considering his "traditionalistic" values he'll probably just cancel my socio status anyway, stating that I don't live there and am therefore not a true cule.
Sandro Rossell treats Johan Cruyff disrespectfully and can't see what a great contribution Cruyff has made to bring FCBarcelona where it is today. If he continues this way, the future will show that Barca members have voted a new president who is only there for his own ego, his own career, his own selfish reasons. If he fails to give credit to the people who made Barcelona the great club which it is today, famous throughout the world for it's attractive offensive football, the successful teams with 'homegrown' players, it's charitywork( things which were inspired by Johan Cruyff), he shows himself a very little man, who does not deserve to be president of Barca!
