Robinho offered to Barcelona

Robinho offered to Barcelona

Catalan sports paper Sport report that Premier League club Manchester City have offered Brazilian international Robinho (26) to Barcelona after the player decided that he does not want to stay anymore at Eastlands.

Robinho, who is leading Brazil’s attack at the World Cup, was bought by Manchester City from Real Madrid in September 2008 for €42.5 million. However, he has since failed to make his mark at Eastlands. He was loaned to Brazilian side Santos in January where he has performed consistently well, helping them to the Paulista title.

Sport claims that Manchester City regard Barcelona as “one of the few solvent clubs in Europe” and are therefore offering the Catalan giants the chance to sign Robinho, who would like to jump at the chance for a move to the Nou Camp.

Although Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola is keen on Robinho, the Spanish champions will only consider signing the 26-year-old if the asking price is a lot lower than Manchester City is demanding. City would hope to recoup much of the huge fee they paid Real Madrid, but Sport reports that Barcelona will not pay more than €22 million for Robinho. In addition, any bid for the Brazilian would be conditional on first offloading striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, which looks a distant prospect at the moment.

Although City will hope that Robinho has a good World Cup, which will increase his value, Sport speculates that Barcelona may look to sign Valencia’s Juan Mata , who is four years younger than Robinho, less controversial than the Brazilian and would likely cost less.

22 mil is about right. lol But idk that might even be to high with all the baggage that comes with this guy.

  2. mike in africa says:

it's understandable that barca only wants to pay less for robinho than what they paid for chygy…

  3. SuperMessi says:

I don't think it is matters how much we paid for chigry or how much they've paid for him 2 years ago. And I don't think either he is a much troubleful player coz if he'd be like that Dunga wouldn't brought him to South Africa. Get him for 25m!

    • frank araujo says:

I could not agree more with you. People around here like to talk bad about robinho and say his a trouble maker. That might have been the case in the past, but if pep wants him then he most think he can get robinho to follow the rules. Oh and lets not forget that ibrahimovic is not the easies person to get along with in the locker room. He seems to be fallowing the rules, it makes since that when a player arrives at a club and sees his teammates fallowing the rules he will do so as well.

  4. EazyE says:

Give them ibra, we get Robinho & de Jong+little cash

  5. ehm says:

If we sold Ronaldinho for his bad attitude, why are we trying to get a person whos maybe even worse?

    • skanjos says:

we sold ronaldinho for his bad attidute? when did that happen? ronaldinho was excellent on the dressing room, never complainted or anything. we sold him to turn page, and because of his lack of form.

      • odn-barca4life says:

We sold ronaldinho because he refused to play claiming injury and the medical staff could find nothing wrong with him. He was overweight partying and could not get along with Etoo in the dressing room.

        • odn-barca4life says:

Robinho however is the same. Partying bad attitude to training and hard work. Too many problems

          • chazan says:

How exactly do you know this is true?? Have you seen him in person?? If so then lucky you. Now why would Dunga call him up if he had a bad attitude. Dunga is much more stricter than Pep. Now the only reasons why Ronaldinho wasn't called up was because A) Robinho had that spot and B) His attitude to professionalism. Now don't you think Dunga would have preferred Ronaldinho over Robinho in case they were both at the same level of discipline?? That's why I think your comments are untrue in my opinion.

  6. salims says:

bring him i know in barca can play well and help us. pls take him fast

  7. This guy has flopped in every team he's played with except Brasil. That should tell you something. In addition, he's had a falling out with every team he's played with. That should also tell you something. No thanks. The players told Pep they didn't want him before, they should do it again. Besides, we have a cheaper left wing option: Pedro.

    • skanjos says:

robinho has floped in every team he's played except brazil???? didnt you watch matches when he was in madrid??? he beat every team by himself, when every player underperfomed robinho was there and scored again and again.i seriusly hated the kid then.he turned around alot of madrid's games…..

  8. Richardson says:

Jay, you have a very good point. Due to the quality in the Barca side, he will not be guaranteed a starting spot half of the time. In consequence, this scandalous frog-face will start acting out bcoz he duznt know how to behave. Very soon he'll b asking to be traded away.
I don't know why Barca and Pep are wasting their resources on players like Robinyo and Mata, they are players that Barca doesn't need – Barca hav a terrific player in Pedro who plays better than these at left wing. Also, David Villa or Iniesta can provide the necessary cover.

Barca should focus on getting the only 2 players they need:
    FABREGAS – 2 reasons:
    1. Xavi played 2 seasons NON-STOP and since he's Barca's engine he might wilt next season, unless he's given more rest. Cesc gets better every season and I believe he's already reached Xavi's level (and he can only get better still!!!), and would provide a good cover with his intelligent plays.
    2. Iniesta's glass legs are bound to shatter once more as they have done in the past 2-3 seasons and he's likely to miss 20+ games again. Cesc will provide the creativity Barca so desperately missed when Iniesta was out.

    MASKERANO
He is the replacement for Yaya (whom I consider to be the BEST DM in the game. Man City is very very lucky).
Although Busquets has a better footballing brain than Maskerano, his main weakness is his tackles due to his lightweight stature. Maskerano on the other hand is the best tackler in the game. Due to the amount of games to be played, there will be enough playing time for the both of them as a rotation.

In addition, I must say that Barca must concentrate on getting new defenders, maybe a year from now, to take over from Abidal (30+) and Puyol (32).

  9. Chuddie says:

I really like Juan Mata. However, I feel that if the team is full of Spanish internationals, this may make Barcelona too 1 dimensional. Sure, it would be great.. but somehow, I think diversity is best. The best footballers from all over the world would make Barca a better team rather than the best footballers from just one country.

Robinho may be bad news though. I don't know how Dunga is able to handle all the egos at the Brazillian NT.

    What do you guys think?

    • Queca says:

You make a good point, Chuddie. But I'd rather have a team full of Spanish/Catalans (+ some "adopted" Catalans!) with talent AND team chemistry, than a team with diversity.

      1. Take Madrid for example, great footballers from all over the world, horrible chemistry = no championships.

      2. While Ibra is a great footballer and may still find success at Barca, his last season's struggles suggests that not all good footballers fit the Barca system!

I suggest we look for those that fit and compliment our system. Further thoughts?

    • frank araujo says:

Well I heard on spanish espn not to long ago that dunga has the whole brazilian national team go to bed early . He puts them in a hotel room and takes away the key. So basically he puts them in prison.lol

  10. Chuddie says:

Maybe I am wrong. I think he had a lack of discipline? Partying into the wee hours.. and gaining too much weight at one point? I don't know about the dressing room though. It appears that he had a very good and positive influence on Messi. Messi looked up to him.

  11. Barca_4ever says:

why do we need a player for left wing when we already have Villa and Pedro to cover there and we have Ibra for CF…

  12. KungJanko says:

In my opinion this guy is a piece of shit, on the pitch as well as off the pitch.

  13. kariz says:

Robin is a far better than Mata, actually we do not need Mata at all. I think, Bojan and Pedro are better player than Mata. The problem is the Pep does not have a clue about players. Look at players he bought, Cheg and Zlatan. Both of them have costed us about 100 million euro, now we cannot even sell them to half of the price. Now they sell Yaya, which is one of the most important player for the team. Instead they keep Basquet and buy Mascherano. They sold Eto, that was a unique 10. Next time, they are going to sell Messi and buy Rooney.

  14. FCB says:

Rather Robinho than Mata. Robinho for 22mil is a very fair price, and on his best days he is a great player with an exeptional talent. But I always fear that he will show the same level from his last 2 seasons in City. If Robinho is willing to take the game serious and train like the rest of the players, then he is very welcome, but if he on the other has intentions of being the next Ronnie then he want be at barca for a very long time.
Off topic Forget Cesc and buy Oezil instead, he seems like a very inteligent player. I dont see him as an alternative for the LW since I think we need someone who is more of a natural winger who constantly will challenge the opponent from the flank with his speed and creative dribbles. Oezil migth be capable of playing the flank but in my opinion he is more of a playmaker and dont posses the same qualaties as Di Maria, Hazard, Elia etc. But a very interesting player I also like the fact that he is a cule and he recently stated that his dream is tom play at barca.

  15. aj10 says:

sure he is a good player and he did really perform well with real the reason why he left was that madrid wanted to swap him with c.ronaldo since then his problems with real started!
i would love to see him pep can make the best out of him just as he did out of etoo !
we don't really need a winger though, with pedro bojan and jeffren we are really fine. at the last it depends all on pep, because he really knows what he is doing and he knows that madrid will be very strong next season as there new team getting to know each other better and better.

  16. Maxmaxmaz says:

So let me get this clear so far, We got Villa , we are working on getting Fabregaz. Russel is trying to get torres and if we get rid of yaya then we gona go and get MASCHERANO.
    1-Villa
    2-Fab
    3-Torres
    4- Mascherano
and we are trying to of load Ibra and henry.
These transfers look awesome and might makes a better team, but arent we being unstable ? we are always mocking realmadrid for shuffling through players like dirty laundry, yet now it seems like we are doing the same. Let me know what you guys think, i would love to hear you opinions and different ideas just to get a general sense of what people think. Thanx

    • FCB says:

If their is a chance of getting Torres then Villa was a mistake. I think buying a LW is essential for the team otherwize we will have 3 players for the middle(Bojan-Zlatan-Villa) and 2 who is best on the RW(messi-Pedro) and no one who is a natural LW(?????) I would love to see Torres in barca but it dosnt change the fact that we still need a LW. Robinho isnt my first choice since he is to unstable, but I am not completely against buying him. I have a feeling that Pep migth be the rigth coach for Robbie and maybe he will show his true potential with Pep as his coach. But it is a bit of a risk.

    • super says:

ibra is shit , sell him

  17. sha sha says:

interesting discussion, but i'm surprised if robihno hasn't changed somewhat since he's in the national team. i would think that he's a better person than what he might have been, at least his attitude. but maybe that's a bad assumption. i think getting saurez would be a good alternative, although i'm not sure how consistent his performance would be on the LF/LW position. what do you guys think?

    • FCB says:

In my opinion Suarez is way overrated. Besides just like Villa, Boja and Zlatan he is best when playing infront of the goal. We need a winger type who can set his opponent from the flank with his speed and creative dribbles. This is not Suarez, and also just because he scored shit loads of goals in Holland dosnt mean he has the potential to play at barca level. Anyone remember Alfonso Alves when he scored goal after goal in the dutch league, and as soon as he went to play in england he showed that he was just a mediocre player. Let suarez show himself in La liga or Premier League and then we migth think about it.

  18. Nai says:

i think that the team needs to cool out a bit. Yaya leaving is a big upset! I thought he was a lot better than busquets but some see it another way! Either way busquets needs a back up if he is to start. We all keep talking about our strikers but i think we have that covered. Pedro has well proven himself, now we have villa. so with bojan, pedro, ibra, villa, aaaaaaaaaand messi i think that is covered. We all seem to forget that ibra scored like 17goals in his first season. After xmas he def wasnt in the same form but still scored in lots of big games like champ leage and against madrid. I think he should def stay one more season and we should concentrate on gettin Fab as well as a LB!!! what do you think

Dani Alves plays 90 min games week in and out. we can all see it gets to him. He starts to kick the ball away, diving. He definitely need someone to take the load of his shoulders. So i say we need a LB and another holding midfield player.

  19. Scrappy1 says:

A dream come true!!! Robinho on the left, villa in the middle and messi on the right!! Please let this happen, we need creativity on the left to use the space that messi will give when he draws defenders!!

  20. wuzu says:

why do we want this guy when the Barca players already said they don't want this guy to come ?
this guy is a gamble, the champion doesn't need to gamble.

  21. VarunM says:

    No. Don't want. Move along.

Brash, Arrogant, SELFISH, holds his club to ransom for him to be sold many a times,
I don't care if he's Maradona+ Pele, his attitude is not Barca at all.

    Robindo in Barca = DISASTER.

  22. emilio says:

I think that Robinho can do well in Barca. He's very creative and his technique is remarkable, he can break through defences and most importantly, parked truck-defences. The guy has potential and is very talented, nobody with reason can argue with that.
But, and this is a big but, his attitude can be a big problem. Especially when playing in a collective unite like Barca, where nobody takes all the credit for everything. He won't be the star, that's a fact.
But at the same time, I think that this guy need some kind of direction in life, so that he won't end up like the other brazilian-samba stars. I think he needs a good coach that can lead him in the right way on the pitch and also off the pitch. Coaches like Sir Alex, Wenger, and Pep G. There's a reason Pep wants Robinho, our coach appearently thinks that he can handle him and make/get the best out of him. So yes, I believe Robinho can do well in Barca.

  23. Cule_999 says:

Love the heading '' Robinho offered to Barcelona". No pun intended. xD

  24. Jairzinho says:

I honestly feel Robinho would be excellent for Barca, His trick and trickery on the left flank will be amazing. Robinho – Villa – Messi front 3 is a lethal combination for any opposition. And he can score goals as well. Talk about his bad attitude is unwarrented. Fans who haven't even met him criticize him. Have any of you ever played with him ? no…. but because of some stories in the press, you think he is a bad player and will spoil the harmony in the dressing room. How come he isn't spoiling the harmony in the Brazil dressing room ? Having said all that, i still feel anything over 22 mil is asking too much. He is a great player but we don't need to be splashing the crash crazily like Madrid.

    • FCB says:

Robbie is a fantastic player no doubt. But I fear he isnt willing to partecipate in recovering the ball like the rest of the team(Except Zlatan) Pep didnt tolerate Ronnie being a luxury player that didnt helped in winning the ball back, and he needs to really talk to Robinho and decide if he think he is willing to take his footbal career seriously. We dont need another Ronnie(I am still a Dinho fan but it was a wize decision letting him and Deco go, Eto´o not so much but lets not go into that)
