Rest for everyone, except Pep

Rest for everyone, except Pep

After the game against Sevilla, FC Barcelona coach Josep Guardiola (39) gave everyone a day and a half off to rest and recharge. But according to an article in Sport, even as they prepared to fly back to Barcelona, it was evident that Pep’s mind was working constantly.

The article in Sport points out that the Saturday match was not easy for the Barça team, who flew to Sevilla for the away leg of the Spanish Super Cup. The players had been on an exhausting schedule that saw them arrive back from the Asian tour that previous Monday and begin double training sessions that week. In addition, Alves, Messi, Ibrahimovic, Bojan, and Jeffren took part in international friendlies midweek; thus on the return flight from Sevilla — where they faced a team that was preparing for its Champions League match in the middle of this week and where temperatures were between 30 and 35 degrees Celsius — all of the faces reflected an accumulated tiredness.

Upon their arrival at the airport in San Pablo, the players looked exhausted, and the only thing on their minds seemed to be getting some rest as they waited to board the plane back to Barcelona. All, that is, except Pep Guardiola, who immediately took a seat near the gate and fell into a discussion with Tito Vilanova.  With an intensity and with gestures, Guardiola made his point to his assistant: that he didn’t like that the team lost their identity when they got tired in the second half.  He emphasized the necessity of playing out from the back and not resorting the easier way out (kicking long passes).

As the team finally made it back to Barcelona at 02:30 Sunday morning, it is a fair guess that while the players might have rested during their day and a half free, Pep Guardiola did not.

Why are you advertising Manchester United games on a FCB website? What is wrong with you?

  3. Just a fan says:

    Just BARCA.

  4. hamad_ali says:

    lol at the picture .
pep is so pissed . " look at my face , do i look happy to you , HUH ? " .

don't make our pep mad .

  5. hamad_ali says:

AS just announced that Real Madrid agreed terms with Bremen for Oezil for 14 million Euros .
Finally the Oezil saga comes to an end . i can't wait for the Mascherano soap opera to end too so we can all enjoy the season ahead without the will he , won't he reports .

    • Marc4barca says:

well the mascherano case hasn't been that bad to call a soap opera. as for ozil, i wish him no luck cause i don't like madrid.. i know he wanted barca but it was just bad luck he is in this generation of promising barca youth players.

    • KAYR says:

Don't forget they also anounced that we signed Masche!

      • hamad_ali says:

good point . maybe we'll have to wait till the 31st of August to have a clear picture of all the teams .

    • BarcaFanDallas says:

I don 't see it on AS or Marca as being official. Do you have a link?

    • Write_theFuture says:

WHY would the sign ozil? ok… in thier 4231 position, for the front four, they already have: Ronaldo, Kaka, Di maria, Higuain, Benzema, Pedro, Van der Vaart, Canales, Marcelo, Ozil AND they still want ANOTHER striker… goes to show the difference between madrid and us

    • Mido Anwar says:

      Now they denied the deal.

  6. rasagna says:

Thats why we love him !

  7. AlegriaDoPovo says:

Pep is the mathematician, let him do the work.

  8. Suf says:

On a slightly seperate note. I don't think Pep has been happy with Rosell's treatment of the El Don (Cruyff), hopefully that will not cause any issues.

Pep is surely MES QUE GERENT and lots of respect to Tito too.

  9. MoLovesBarca! says:

I have total faith in Pep… He's simply the best!!! Yes, he made mistakes with transfers but NEVER with promotions!

-He's replacing 2 players who played badly LAST SEASON ( Chiggy, Marquez ) by Youngstars such as Fontas, Muniesa, Bartra.
-We brought Adriano which means that Puyol must no more worry on playing RB or LB.
-We also have Milito who only played at the end of last season. He's still getting his form back too (Pre-season is especially important for veterans so that they get back to form!)

-We replaced Titi by Villa. Titi who didn't play last season is replaced by the world cup Pichichi! Enough said!

-My only concern is Romeu. But everytime I've watched him, he has been IMMENSE! Since Toure played all the "small" games last season, I can't see where Romeu can go wrong!

So all in all, we have acted very smartly in the transfer window!!!

Good luck Pep and even if you go trophyless this season ( WHICH I HIGHLY DOUBT ), we will never forget everything you have done for this club!

And all these promotions can only be good for the long run.. So Bravo on that too!

Visca el Barca i Visca Catalunya!!!

    • FCB says:

What if Busquets gets injured then Romeu will have to play teams like Real, ManU and Chelsea, I dont think he is ready for that judging by what I saw against Sevilla. He had no control of the MF

  10. FCB says:

Off topic: Now its official Oezil is going to Real. How the H… did we mess this one up, oh yeah I now by obsessing on cronically injured Cesc. I guatantee Oezil will be 10 times the player than Cesc, and they bought him very cheap. OMG their is some serious incompetence going on in this club. Pep still dosnt want any reinforcements, seriously at the moment we have 1 DMF who is used to first team football, this season will be a major dissaster.

    • BarcaFanDallas says:

Just a question. As good as Ozil can be, do we know that he would just fit right in and be able to play the awesome tiki taka that Barça plays? Any player needs to know or learn the system. Only one transfer target would fit in right away. We know who that is, and it is not Ozil. That's not to say that he could not learn it quickly. But the advantage with Cesc is he is a Barça product and has the tiki taka already deep in his brain. :)

I trust the coaches and staff who can better evaluate players. Visca Barça! Visca Pep!

      • FCB says:

Well he is only 21 and have been one of the biggest talents for a very long time, and he keeps on developing, also he fits the Barca profil, always working hard both ways, and a real team player, I am abselutely certean that he would have been a succes at Barca, but Pep would rather see cronically injured Cesc at the club because he once said that Pep was his idol as a kid. Now Real will be getting a fantastic player for almost no money because the Barca board are idiots.

        • BarcaFanDallas says:

Do you have a link that it's official? I haven't seen it yet. I know it might be close. Also, is Ozil willing to be just a back up? You have to consider that, too. Don't believe anything you see in any of the news sites.

        • Barcelonista says:

If you ask me oezil has a very average work rate and is too easily tired, although i might be wrong cos i only followed his WC performance, but all in all in barca where he is expected to hound the opposition he might find life difficult

    • madbarca says:

Dude ur seem too upset. No signings doest mean the end of the world. I know a lot of people will be judging Barca from the Sevilla game but honestly it is not fair on our part as cules not just in good times…. to start being pessimistic so soon. Sure it doesnt look all rosy at the moment but we must have patience and show our support whatever the result. I too was hoping for a DM signing but I am not going to believe just because Romeu has never played against big teams he cannot deliver. May be he will start looking better once he gets more gametime with the first team. Remember no matter how good u may be u need to understand how players around u play and that comes only with experience thats exactly what he is going to get this season…:)

      • FCB says:

Romeu is not a world class player and never will be, around the world the other big clubs are laughing at us because we think we can create a winning team of just barca players. Look at Bilbao once a big club but now just a medicre La Liga team because of their idiotic beliave in only using their own players. we will face the same destiny if we dont change this mentalatty rigth now, and by the way we will also loose alot of fans around the world

        • madbarca says:

Lets talk facts then Bilbao never had a team of 11 world class 1st choice players in the past 5 years. Topic ends. The problem is replacements. Of course we may loose a few more games than say playing with Ozil and Mascherano but then we risk loosing Thiago and Romeu who can become better than the 2 above. I would prefer to make a choice after giving them a fair share of first team action if they are not ready the sure loan them out atleast we gave them a chance. Moreover Ozil and Mascerano are neither the best nor the only solution so lets just stick with Pep for now.

        • Sachin says:

And what makes you say that? How many times have you really seen him to play?

        • harshawardhan says:

what makes you say romeu will never be a world class player? hahaha… so naive

    • hamad_ali says:

Oezil is a good player . but to compare him with cesc after one good season is wrong . cesc has been carrying arsenal on his back for the past 2 years now to the point where arsenal fans would say that if cesc plays , they win , and if he doesn't , they lose . cesc is the best playmaker in the EPL . a place where keeping the ball is considered to be a brocken leg invetation . and he still does a good jop . he was the to assister in the EPL even though he spent half a season injured .

      • FCB says:

Cesc has just like Iniesta been injured 2/3 of every season, and he will keep on being that for the rest of his football carreer. I agree thay cant be compared since they are not that similar in playing style, but that being said I am sure Oezil just like Ini would be able to play both the wing and MF positions but I would prefer using him on the LW, but why talk about that when he wont join us.

        • rittick_cule says:

BY that logic you are tryin 2 say that iniesta is useless cuz he's injured 2/3 of the season……….. i guess you understand a li'l too much about football so no point arguing with you……..

    • Write_theFuture says:

Shame on Ozil then. he ruined his career… how the hell is he going to compete with kaka, van der vaart, and canales for 1 position? When ozil doesnt sell enough jerseys he will be sold, just like with robben, sneijder, etc.

    • Mido Anwar says:

OZil 10 times bertter than Cesc hhhhhhhhhhhhahahaaaaaaaaa

  11. FCB says:

Also Iniesta is injured 2/3 of the season, if Xavi get injured we are so screwed. Pep has lost his mind.

  12. FCB says:

We are so screwed next season, no way we will be able to play an intire season without getting players injured, especially with all the tournements Barca are partecipating in. If Pique or Puyol gets injured we are screwed, if Ini or Xavi gets injured we are screwed, if Messi gets injured we are screwed, you all get the picture non of the other big teams have such smale squads, and thats for a reason, we need atleast 2 more signings of qualety players that will reinforce the team, other wize we will have a dissaster season ahead of us. All our best players have partecipated in the WC which means they havnt got any rest between this season and last season, no way they can play 2 years in a row without falling n level at some time. Messi leave Barca, at the moment you are the only one I care for rigth now, its not fair for you to play on such a mediocre team, you belong with the best.

    • BarcaFanDallas says:

Wow, you need to take deep breath and relax. The sky is not falling….. :-p

    • Write_theFuture says:

Calm down, remember there is a winter transfer market too. the second half of the season is the worst, with injury, fatigue, crucial matches 3 times a week… if halfway through the season we have assessed that we need signings, we make signings.

      • Matthew_George says:

While I certainly agree with that, there is just one issue: anyone we would buy at that time will almost certainly have played in UEFA competition by then and won't be able to play for us.

    • rittick_cule says:

c'mon stop being hysterical!!!!!!! things are not rosy i agree but they're not that bad………. i bet u hav started supporting barca in the treble winning season!!!!!

    • blitzen says:

Are you sure you are on the right message board? Because this one here is for Barca *supporters*.

  13. Barca_4ever says:

as much as i am open for squad depth, im pissed … screw ozil… im happy with our cantera… if he wants to play for madrid, let him… never ever should he say Barca from his mouth…

i haven't seen romeu or most of the youth play but i feel comforting listening to molovesbarca and sachin say how good they are… just hope our cantera prove some dumb asses wrong over the course of the year…

  14. ACE says:

I don't believe this Ozil to madrid garbage, not happening at all and you guys are suckers for believing it

    • BarcaFanDallas says:

I'm still waiting for FCB's "inside source" to report it……. :-p Getting a little late. It's 9pm is Spain! :-D And for entertainment — read the Madrid news. "Bremen pressures Ozil into posing in team photo" (Marca), while AS says, "Werner coach not counting on Ozil for CL game playoff…"
