Real Madrid after Marc Bartra

Real Madrid after Marc Bartra

Madrid based paper Marca yesterday claimed that Real Madrid is after FC Barcelona’s 19-year-old reserve player Marc Bartra, in light of his holding-out over renewing his contract with the Catalan club.

Born on 25 January 1991, the Tarragona-born player is able to move on for free when his current contract ends in June, and two of Real Madrid’s top brass – José Vicente Hernáez and Roberto Gomez – are looking to pounce on the opportunity to not only bolster the Blancos defensive line, but at the same time rub salt on their arch-rival’s wound.

The 1.84 m tall Spanish U-19 international plays mainly as a centre-back but can also be rotated as a right-back.

Bartra came to FC Barcelona’s youth system at age 11 from RCD Espanyol, and progressed through the ranks until he was promoted to the club’s reserve Barca Atletic squad in 2009.

Good in the air, and with the acumen to play balls from the back, the player was called up by Pep Guardiola quite a few times since he took over as first team coach. On 14 February 2010, he made his debut for the European champions replacing Jeffrén Suárez for the final 30 minutes at the Vicente Calderón in a match against Atlético Madrid, becoming the twelfth youth player used by the coach this season.

Does that mean the most RM most promising youth is up for grabs also?

  5. Karo says:

We gotta keep him. Marquez might leave in the summer so he should get promoted. He could be used as backup for Alves too

YOu are right Karo, but i don`t think that we have to wait until Marquez leaves, we can still promote him so that Alves can have a Backup, you know we can as well play Alves upfront, so we really need to be careful before we loose a good player like him, not even only him, we have many of them we have to promote, they need chances just like Bojan and Pedro with jefferen, i know they can fight for it to gain more experience than lettig them go.

  8. Messias says:

if he thinks he would get a better chance in madrid than i barcelona he is just stupid and dont deserve to play in our team.. but hopefully this is just some media crap and doesent come from true sources.. :)

Interesting, let's put it this way: Should we keep him, is he that good? Our young CBs are (in order of performance) Pique, Chyggy, Caceres , Botia, Henrique, Muniesa and Fontas, after that comes Bartra. That is 7 young players before him in a position for two. Plus that we got the old CBs for another two years.
My analysis of our future five CBs:
Muniesa is the diamond of La Masia and Botia have done so great in Sporting, so i those two will join already shining Piqué.
After that it is either Cyggy or Caceres that will take a spot, or both. I think Cyggy will have this though, based on Pep's seemed trust in the young Ukrainian and he's physical mind. Caceres will be sold.
That leaves the last spot open for Bartra and Fontas. Fontas have made a stronger impression on me and I remember a lot of Cúles who loved him in pre-season. But of course the road is open for any of them two, but not both.
I think Bartra will have to give up, the board should signed him a new contract if they wanted him to stay.

  12. Bartra should get a new contract and become the back-up for Alves when the new season starts. I would be very disappointed if Bartra leaves this summer.

Bartra is a good prospect, it would be wise to keep him and give him some minutes come next season. I don't think Bartra is classless to be playing for a classless club like Franco Madrid!
