Quote of the day: Xavi Hernandez, FC Barcelona player
“It’s not an offside, but its understandable if they (madrid based media) call it as one, afterall they have to sell papers. What’s funny though, is that there was no mention of Ibra’s denied penalty claim”
FC Barcelona player Xavi hernandez takes a dig at the Madrid press who were speculating that Pedro was offside for his goal against Sporting, while he was speaking to ‘The Hatrick’ program on TV3.

Well said xavi…the spanish press always trying to ruin the harmony of barcelona, but thats a losing battle…
Haha. MD finally posted that photo above — the same photo where Marca had erased the lines. The Madrid papers are desperate.
fortunately, their readership is not all blind, so a vast number of people pointed out that it was stupid to erase the lines . . .
What’s funny though, is that there was no mention of Ibra’s denied penalty claim” What does he mean with that! Sorry for my bad english ;(
Barça shoould have had a penalty for a foul on Ibra. But the paper didn't wrote it in their article.
it mean, the papers only said about what they called offside goal, but not even talk about supposed pinalti for barca.
Haha, so pathetic of the Madrid papers! But there's one thing I'm wondering about, though. How are the Barca papers? Any local Barcafans here who care to elaborate this to a Norwegian Barcafan who doesn't speak Spanish? Are the Barca papers also slandering RM unfairly, or do we refrain from such underhanded methods? Thanks in advance
I wouldn't say "we" because I often get angry, as a Barca fan, for the conduct of Sport and EMD. In reality, they're usually no better than AS or Marca.
Like I explained its a war. AS and Marca are trying to pressure the refs so they call the games like how Sevilla Barca in the copa dey rey was called with Barca getting 2 goals disallowed for no reason and sevilla getting a cheap penalty. If EMD and Sport dont stand up and point it out we risk the refs being influenced to call the game differently. Right before the Sevilla game we got the Espanol penalty and Marca and AS raised hell. What was the outcome? The Sevilla game.
Wow. Is this really true? Can four tabloid papers really have such an influence on the referees and how they conduct themselves in a football match? If there really are something to this, then it's scandalous! And how do the papers actually "pressure" the referees? It's not like the refs are dependant on the goodwill of the tabloid papers?
I heard either Marca or AS made their own league table, am I right? The points, they say, were counted after all those supposedly errors in matches being considered. I heard RM is/was at the top of the table. Do they publish the table in the net?
Amazingly — a voice of reason in a MARCA article. :-O
Readers asked questions of someone named Santiago Segurola (I don't know who he is). Several were related to Barca. And Marca even posted as the title of the article: "Pedro's goal was legal."
They also asked about the "Villarato" thing, and he said: "No creo en el villarato, ni en manos negras, ni en conspiraciones contra el Madrid." = I don't believe in el villarate, nor in black hands, now in conspiracies against Madrid.
Last, according to him, the 5 best goalkeepers for Spain are: Casillas, Valdés, Reina -aunque juega en Inglaterra-, Diego López y Gorka Iraizoz.
I like this guy!
