Ramos did phone both Puyol and Xavi to apologize for the rumble after that foul on Messi, for which I am thankful. It at least shows some respect for his NT-mates, as well as a recognition of his fault in the matter. Personally, I value that a lot more than some pointless mass-media stunt. Shows more class than crying in the media.

I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and concede that he might not have been consciously trying to injure Messi on Monday. However, this isn't the first time he's made a vicious tackle on Messi. He's done the same thing in past Clasicos, so whether he INTENDED to hurt Messi or not is neither here nor there. He's GOING to hurt Messi if he keeps pulling this kind of sh*t, so somebody had better stop him (and a one match ban is NOT going to stop him).
As for the Puyol/Xavi stuff, well, if he ACTUALLY called them up to personally apologize (as Fred says), I can accept his actions. I mean, lord knows Barca players can get pretty hot-headed at times, particularly Valdes (although I can't recall him or anyone else ever blatantly pushing their Spanish teammates around like that). The situation must have been extremely humiliating for Ramos and I felt for him in a way. But man, it was still really low-class to handle true footballers like Puyol and Xavi in the face like that (especially since he never would have won a world cup without them). He definitely went down a few notches in my books (and he wasn't particularly high up to begin with).

Didn't mean to hurt, and yet made a very dangerous tackle when the game was already long gone. He didn't even go for the ball, he went straight for messi's left foot. Absolutely vicious. And this isn't the first time he's done something unnecessary to Messi. Which is why I just rolled my eyes at this. He's getting to old for these shenanigans and someone needs to put the boy in his place.

Ramos is a good player, but what keeps him from being a great player is he' a "hothead." He lets the bad situations and problems get to him personally. Causing Ramos to lash out on other players (Messi, Puyol, Xavi etc.). The reason is this has happen many times in the past.
In other words, Ramos needs anger management.

I'm glad every person on here knows exactly the intentions and the thoughts of Ramos.. As an athelete things happen during the game that you would never think of doing, of course you apologize, when your wrong. It takes a bigger man to apologize for playing his hardest than just waiting for the game to end. I am a huge Barca fan, and love the beating Madrid deserved, but I'd be a fool to think that we were perfect players and Ramos was the only "scum" player on the pitch.
