Regional dependency. GB tends not to aspirate H sounds, so "an" is appropriate, but in America the H is aspirated, leading to the "a".

absolutely agree! and one more, let's concetrate on our team and players! They give us the greatest moments in history of this club, let's just enjoy this wonderful team. There is no need to take care of what other says, whole world watched this GAME, and whole world know what happened. But many people waste their energy on enjoying "mou humilitation" or tackles and so on, of course it's a part of the game and rivaly, but for me (and I believe for many of us) the best part is our team, both coach and players underlined that it was extraordinary game. Enjoy it!

I think that even though he only played for a few minutes, this was probably the best thing that could have happened to jeffren, to come off the bench after an injury and to score a goal in El Clasico, there is not much more that can give you the morale boost that you need, just look at him after he scores, congrats jeffren!

actually, it depends on the style guide you are following and the interpretation of that style guide. often, the "a" is for sounded "h"s and "an" for unsounded.

this is one that tends to go either way…no clear correctness. or even if there is, its rule has been mostly ignored. this is one that i usually don't fight. there are far more important rules that i refuse to let go…who/whom, that/which, couldN'T care less/could care less, etc.

OMG yes I visit this very popular Madrid blog sometimes and people there are furious. Saying that the Barça players Puyol, Messi and Xavi deserved the fouls and that Puyol and Messi faked their pain -.- ignorance…they are putting excuses to the horrible, violent way their players acted last night
