Pep and Txiki plan three signings for next season

Despite the team performing well this season, there is a high priority to maintain the excellence for next season. Pep Guardiola and Txiki Begiristain are working in parallel on planning the squad for next season on the assumption that it only requires three more additions that must be signed according to Catalan newspaper Sport.

In this sense, much of the planning will depend on the recruitment of Cesc Fabregas and the money they need to pay Arsenal in order to bring home the ‘gunner’. In fact, the first-team coach and Blaugrana technical secretary are working as if there are elections already, so to speak. Pep has already confirmed that he will continue next season regardless of who the next president might be and maintains its full confidence in his team.

Within the four months after the conclusion of the current season, Barca need to strengthen three positions:

- a right back,  to cover for Daniel Alves so he can get some rest
- the left winger, due to a possible departure of Thierry Henry and to strengthen the attack
- and a midfielder,  to cover for Xavi and Iniesta

These three additions will complete the squad according to the plans. And after much discussion, it was decided that the main priority is Cesc Fabregas.

However, Arsenal will not easily budge even though the Barcelona player has already made a firm decision to return to his childhood club. Tired of losing titles, Cesc believes that he has matured enough as a player and having achieved more than his goal of learning English, feels it’s time to head back home to Barcelona.

Arsenal have just made a final effort by offering a multi-million dollar contract that would make him the highest paid player in club’s history in London (about 33 million euros for the next five seasons). However, it looks like it will not be sufficient to retain the Catalan player. Taking that into consideration, Barca are working with the certainty that it would take 40 to 50 million euros to sign Cesc.

That’s about half the money budgeted for next year’s reinforcements, which means that the identity of the other two players would depend on the Catalan midfielder’s recruitment. To date, no direct names have been linked to the right-back position, but two have been mentioned as possible heirs to the left-wing: Frank Ribery and David Silva.

The Valencia winger would in principle be a cheaper option than the Frenchman. Bayern did not want to lose one of its jewels and the numbers that have been quoted from Bavarian lands (between 70 and 75 million euros) are in the prohibitive zone for the Blaugrana transfer policy. Therefore, all eyes will be focused on the possible arrival of Cesc and the extremely difficult signings of Ribery or other alternatives (especially David Silva).

In addition, Pep remains confident in the cantera and his planning for the upcoming campaigns is uniquely designed to slot-in the La Masia products. The players that are part of the future plays are:

- defenders: Bartra, Montoya, Muniesa and Fontas
- midfielders: Jonathan, Thiago and Sergi Roberto
- forwards: Gai Assulin, along with the already established Pedro, Bojan, Jeffren

However, the ideal plan and priority for next season is to sign 3 new players to fill-in the key roles.

i dont think we need any of them, we could just use montoya to cover for alves and the other youth players to cover the other spots

buying fabregas is such a waste of money. it also pretty much says thiago and jonathan have very little chance, it breaks up xaviesta duo… moves iniesta to a wing where he is wasted, which alsp wastes bojan and pedro who will get alot less mins….. i think buying fabregas should wait another season or two….

I would sign Gregory van der Wiel-Veloso-Krasic maybe Asenjo if Pinto left.

    These 3 options are predictable.
It would be crazy to cash for Cesc over 40M. There are much cheaper options (Affelay,Veloso, Hamsik) but anyway I'm Cesc's fan and I'd like to see him at Barca only for reasonable price.
Right back solution might be found at La Masia, and Caceres might be used if impress during preseason. The other option could be Inkoom from Basel.
Regarding left winger, FCB need a reliable and experienced player on that position. Pedro and Jeffren done well so far, but Suarez could be great.
And yes, use La Masia GK for the next season.

We should sell Henrique ,Hleb and Henry (Henry cause if we wait for his cntract to end, he will go free). With that and the 100 mill euro we should go for Villa and Cesc.
Villa is a winger and monster CF, he can easily play on the wing and adapt fast since the Spanish national team plays like Barca already. Also because of the fact that if Ibra gets injured or sanction or something he can cover CF and then cantera can fill LW.
Cesc is needed to give Xavi or Iniesta a break when needed AND just in case of injury or sanction. True he wont have much playing time at 1st but we all know Xavi is 30 already and Cesc would be the best player to replace him. Xavi has even admited this.
The RWB position to help dani is easy in my opinion. We should just get caceres back to save the cash to aquire Villa and Cesc.. if we do have some extra cash we can go for a good RWB on the market.. thruthfully we cant go for a MONSTER cause no one out there can sit Dani.. and less play time is not an attractive offer to anyone. If you have been watching Juve and Uruguay in the world cup qualifiers you can see Caceres has progress a lot as a rwb. He is fast, has develop a nice offensive cross and is young. I know ppl dont like him but like I said I think he is a great sub for dani.. plus we ALREADY OWN HIM.

IMO to buy a player for RB is kinda waste of money.
we can always call up a reserve player(bartra showed promise) or put Puyol there.

my only summer transfer wish is to get
    1) Villa as a LW/CF or any other goal scoring player(which is NONE, rooney is stupid money)
    2) renew/improve contracts of important players; Yaya, Pique
    3) promote or give them more playing time: thiago, jds, fontas, bartra,
    4) offload loan players for good and maybe offload players
    5) if we get cesc, we don't need to spend money to get a LW as iniesta would surely take up that position(sacrificed)

  11. Dino says:

we have caceres for right back( that position he play for juventus)…he is not bad for beckup.
fabregas is priority…and I would be happy if we buy Silva…and we dont need nothing more.
    3 players…= 70 mil.
    sell : henry( I wouldnt sell him), hleb, = 30 mil. :)
