Barcelona has today officially announced the transfer of Valencia forward and Spanish international David Villa (28).
Barcelona has agreed terms with Valencia and will pay a transfer fee of 40 million euros for the player.
Villa is set to arrive in Barcelona on Thursday and will undergo a medical on Friday morning before being officially unveiled at 1:30pm CET.

Villa is great! Plus he know the spanish competition and will fit in quicker then players that come from outside spain (like Ibra, he'll do great next year)
And guys no worries. I believe the only one who will suffer from this one is Jeffren. Loan him or sell him with a buy buy back option. Keirisson will stay loaned out for a bit more. Let's keep a good eye on his evolution. And we all know Henry is probably already looking for a house in NY.
There will definetly be enough games in the next season for everyone to play. The only worry is that we'll have to wait and see how players like Bojan and Zlatan will react..

Face the facts:
The technical staff stands behind Ibra (and so do I, I really believe that he's gonna have a great next season) and wenger said NO to the Fab transfer, wich is in my opinion only normal! Arsenal would be ludacris to let him go and Arsene is not a crazy but a serious man who knows that a departure of Cesc would mean a disaster for the youthfull London team.
Of course the technical staff will say that and Wenger will say that!!! If they said anything else, they would be stupid as the price would move to their disadvantage! It's called negotiation tactics!
So: If you think forward you can conclude that Cesc is not leaving for less than 40-50M, wich we don't have unless we make (in my opinion) a mistake by swapping Yaya or Ibra.

Wow……well this gives us the offensive edge many felt we lacked with Henry not playing very well. (Yes I know Bojan and Pedro played very, very, very well but their production was not equal to Henry's of last season.) Villa is a legit goal threat from anywhere on the pitch. I still would like Torres over Ibra, but with the formers injury problems I'm not so sure. But for 40 mil, this seems like a bargain compared with the Ibra transfer. Last summer the Villa asking price was much higher.

Some ppl seem to forget that Henry is probably on the way out which would have left us with Ibra, Messi, Pedro and Bojan(Jeffren still fringe) as forwards. If there would be one injury on one of them it would weaken our frontline alot. With Villa, that's not too much of an issue, but i say keep Ibra. And you get a little bad galactico-feeling with some of the speculation going on but i think Villa is just a clever transfer which will take some of the goalscoring presseure from Messi(which is needed)

Well if you would read what the quote, it says that they will play him on the right , or in the center drifting right. Based on this I would not imagine him playing on the left, which was…Henry's position. To me this sounds like Messi's position but with the right and center positions reversed. What we lacked this season was a threat on the LW. If Villa plays Center/RW, how does this cover Henry's position?
He's not going to play on the right- Txiki just compared him to Messi, to his abillity and style.
So if his style is a center that drifts to the right, we will be playing him out of position.

Pedro and Bojan can cover any of the trident and can play from start on Copa del rey. Cesc, for now, will be Xavi and Iniesta rep (keep in mind iniesta has been getting injured 2-3 months each season on the last 2-3 season) . I think Caceres would be best alves rep and its free. Notice ALL major injuries on our team have come mid+ season.. because we play so much on all cups.
After this aquisitions.. we would have ALL bases covered.. unless we let Yaya go.. then we have no one that can replace him.. Busquets being nowhere near as good and no1 being able to rep for that holding mid position.

I don't think Cesc is necessary now. If we buy him and he becomes a starter the lineup would be:
Cesc-Busquets-Xavi
Messi-Villa-Iniesta
But if Cesc isn't in the linuep, the lineup would be:
Xavi-Busquets-Iniesta

A Xavi and Iniesta midfield is better than a Xavi-Cesc midfield, and a Messi-Ibra-Villa attack is better than a Messi-Villa-Iniesta, so I think the choice is pretty obvious. I know, there are a lot of games, and Xavi and Iniesta can't play every match, but why pay 50m for a bench player who will complain unless he starts? I rather get a decent, creative, sub who won't cost a lot, and won't mind sitting on the bench, someone who won't block our youth talent's chances of succeeding. I bet Diego is available for less than 20m. He would be terrific.
Barcelona are NOT galaticos,the most their going to spend is 80 million/40 million on villa and another 40 million on fabregas….I bet guardiola will convince toure to stay,but reality most likely ibra will leaved/villa was brought to due what ibra cant and is score week in & out,ibra is great but not barcelona material doesnt play like a striker and guardiola wont change the traditional formation just for ibra,plus pedro deserves to be given a starting place 23 goals is simply amazing…

I wouldn't mind seeing Ibra try and play on the left wing and Villa up top. It might be easier to adapt to the left wing rather than striker, but I doubt this would happen.
Anybody know who else is coming back from loans besides Botia, Hleb, and Caceres? I don't think Caceres will be coming back, but would love to see Botia stay and fight for a position.
And I don't know about anyone else but I want to see Pique play a defensive mid. I enjoyed watching him play DM when he played for Catalunya.

Very true, a perfect signing. But we've generally seen some really great and really bad signings – Dani Alves, Keita, Pique were all very good investments (as was Toure). Chygrynskyi, Keirrison, Hleb were not.
Come on, Pep and Zubi. Buy Özil + Cesc, sell Zlatan and get a great DM. And watch us take it all once again.

I'm not saying it is the best idea, but now that we have Villa up front, we have the option to have Messi play in a somewhat creative mid role. This might just put more pressure on our little Argentine, but we now have the ability to have a front line of Pedro/Bojan/Jeffren, Villa, Ibra and have Messi hang back in mid and show off his passing. Still not saying it is a good idea, but I bet Pep will try something similar at least once next season.
