Medical: Busquets only has minor discomfort, nothing serious

Spanish news agency EFE reports that FC Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets is feeling fine even though test results on his thigh is still pending. The club’s medical staffs are pretty sure there is nothing serious such as a tear, and the pain the player felt last night was merely a bruise or contusion.

With Xavi out for at least two weeks and Seydou Keita just recovering, Busquets absence could complicate matters for Pep Guardiola in the midfield department as they enter into the final and crucial phase of the season. All that however was put to rest today when the player himself declared, “It was just a scare.  I hope all the tests went well but I believe there will not be any problem.  Because of a miss-step, I got a bit of a muscle cramp.  I don’t think it is anything significant, and hopefully I can be play on Sunday in Zaragoza.”

The combination of Yaya and Busquets together on the pitch at the same time has given some good results until now. I hope Pep would repeat it against Zaragoza this weekend.

    Busquets===== RESPECT

he is a star- which other players can you find his age at his position who are that good?

  3. paco says:

he's over rated IMO. I was hoping this would give yaya more playing time

    • Ramzi says:

If he is overrated then Yaya will not need him to be injured to get a chance to play. Right?

Not sure if its smart to wish that a player get injured now that we are approaching the most important stretch in the season. For Example, Lets hope that all the players' form improve so they all contribute for the best of the club? That sounds better…

Anyways, finally Yaya played in his natural position. He did well, but he can even do much better if he plays there more frequently.

Did he play as a box to box player or did he play as an AM? I had watch on a bad stream sorry…

        • Mido_Cule says:

Yaya played the xavi role in the 4-2-3-1 formation as he played next to Busquetes but with more attacking duties as always Busquetes was left for covering midfield and fullbacks leaving Yaya to go a lot forward and he assisted the Pedro goal.Yaya performed a massive performance and I think now we can be independant on Xavi by using yaya there in some matches but for sure Xavi is still my first choice for that position but also Yaya is a monster.

But maybe it's easy to get recognition in that position when playing for Barca, as the ball will constantly flow to that player who plays there, it's also easy for the spectators to see the contribution of that position.

Ramzi made a good point here. You, gloryhunters (or whatever) should learn something from Guardiola and Morinho, for instance. The way "he is overrated, he should retire, etc." is the easiest way to make your very own judgements. It does not encourage or help any player in this world.

Paco's not a very good poster, I hope he sprains his wrist so I can read more posts by Ramzi.

  4. laurensBarca says:

Sad, he i injured but i hope yaya and keita combine well

  5. laurensBarca says:

Ramzi, Sergio is overrated, he has poor defensive qualities than Yaya, let's not argue on this point. anyway i hope he recovers soon.

    • Mark says:

No he does not have poor defensive qualities. Del Bosque and Pep are two of the greatest coaches in the game. They know what they are doing.

Everyone should be glad he is fit and not injured.

    • Ramzi says:

Nah… I stopped arging about this point since a long time. You can argue with Pep, though :)

      • Unreal2 says:

hey ramzi… i want to read ur article "will bara learn for madrid's elimination"…
it was there this morning here on this website but it just disappeared!
        link plz link plz!

        • Ramzi says:

I think Perez paid some internet gangs so they kidnap the article ;)

I usually pass the article to the editors on Wednesday. From there on, I know as much as you know about it (I didn’t even know it was published-by mistake). They scheduled the publishing and it will reappear in the right time.

Even thou im not a huge busquetts fan, i'll never wish him any long term injury or any injury at all. He's a barca player and he didnt play well yesterday, but he did okay and made some nice interceptions, but seriously now, yaya should be starting over him.

    • Mark says:

I thought he did exactly what he was told to do. Break up play and not letting Stuttgart keep posession in our own half. But I guess it's not easy for fans to see what he does. And now people want to use Yaya instead of Busquets as DM because Yaya played good in the Xavi role which is totally different from the DM role. Yaya has been poor as DM this season.

      • FINiesta says:

I agree. The game is not the one man show, except our lovely Leo can make it so. Very often players are evaluated by the mean "how spectacular is their performance". That is not a fair approach when the game basis on the teamwork. Well done guys, Sergio and Yaya. We win 4-0 and that's all we need.

  7. xaviniesta says:

tsk. i think some ppl should try focus on busi next time he plays like, for the whole 90 mins, see what this guy does out there before they criticise.

  8. Dude says:

Glad to see he is not injured
