Mascherano passes medical

Argentina international Javier Mascherano (26) has passed his medical at FC Barcelona in the early hours of Monday morning and will now sign his contract to make the move official at 18:00 CET.

Mascherano arrived at the Hospital de Barcelona where he was required to undergo a series medical tests. The initial tests consisted of blood, urine examinations and X rays. The player underwent more tests at the Camp Nou a few hours later by the club medics regarding his strength, overall fitness and form.

FC Barcelona first team doctor Ricard Pruna made the following statement once the tests were concluded, “It was an exhaustive medical that lasted around five hours. He is in excellent condition and is physically great.”

Dr. Pruna also mentioned about Mascherano’s proneness to getting injured. “His cardiovascular level is perfect and he is a player who has had very few injuries. In the last five years he has suffered one injury that has left him with problems.”

The player is now expected to put pen to paper on his contract in the next few hours and then will be presented to the fans where cules all over will get their first glimpse of the Argentine captain wearing the famous Blaugrana.
