Madrid targets Assulin and Bartra
Barcelona’s arch rival Real Madrid is reportedly after two of the most promising youngsters currently playing in the Blaugrana‘s B team, Barcelona Atletic. Israeli winger Gai Assulin (19) and defender Marc Bartra (19) have both found themselves on the radar of Madrid, after their current situation in Barcelona has become anything but clear.
According to Spanish newspaper Sport, the contract negotiations between Bartra and the club are not going smoothly, which alerted the attention of the “royal whites” who are keen on capturing the promising defender.
The situation surrounding Assulin is a bit different. The starlet has not progressed the way he was expected by the club, and so speculations emerged about his future at Barça with the club stalling the renewal talks for now. Real Madrid is closely following their situation and is weighing up a possible move for the pair.
FC Barcelona and Real Madrid signed a gentleman’s agreement a couple of years back in which both teams agreed that neither of them would attempt to lure away a player from the opposite side. However, according to the Spanish newspaper, the arrival of the controversial coach Jose Mourinho can break the deal as the Portuguese will have the last word in the pursuit of the Barça youngsters.
