Laporta asked about possible future inclusions for the club

Even though what he says now may have little bearing on what the club might do in the future, especially if his chosen continuity candidate fails to win the next presidency, the out-going Barcelona President Joan Laporta was asked by French magazine Le Journal du Dimanche what he thinks about a couple of players’ and a French coach’s chances of joining the Catalan club.

In the interview, Laporta was asked about two players that have consistently been linked to the European champions by the media, Bayern Munich’s Franck Ribery (26) and Girondins de Bordeaux’s Yoann Gourcuff (23).

About Ribery, the President acknowledged that “for the time being there is no negotiation going on. He is one of the best in his position. Our technical director will decide if we want him or not at the end of the season. We did try to sign him last year but Bayern wouldn’t sell and we don’t want to push them.”

As for the Girondins’ player, Laporta said, “I know about him, and he is very good. He is one of Laurent Blanc’s players, is he not? But then, out of respect for his club I won’t say much more.”

Earlier in the session, the Catalan club’s highest ranking official reminisced on how a comparatively young and inexperienced Pep Guardiola came to be chosen as first-team coach:  “It was the easiest decision of my presidency. I’ll admit one thing: I offered the job to Johan Cruyff, my idol and friend, but he told me that Pep was ready, and that was good enough for me. Pep had showed he has the character, and a loyalty to our footballing philosophy during his year as coach of Barca B. We knew he is a hard worker, had the talent and has within him the Barca DNA. He embodies, understands and is able to convey our philosophy.”

Asked if he has already surpassed the achievements of Johan Cruyff, who attained the status of a legend, Laporta said “to become a legend one should demonstrate one’s talent for an extended period of time. The team he presently coached has a great future ahead of them. Balanced, talented, hard working and very determined, they may become the best team in the history of football.”

“However, for us, victory is not the only objective as the trophies are only meant for the museum. But our philosophy must be understood at all time.”

At that point, the reporter asked if he thinks Laurent Blanc, the current Bordeaux coach – himself a former Barcelona player (1996-97) – has the qualities to coach the Barcelona team, and Laporta’s reply was, “I like him a lot. I like his personality, the way he analyses the game, and for his innate ability to identify player’s talent. I do hope Guardiola can be Barca coach at least for another two or three years, and after that maybe Laurent Blanc can be one of the candidates for his replacement.”

“But then if Barca is to face Girondins in the final of the Champions League, don’t expect me to say the same!”

mmm interesting looks like Laporta is giving some hints:
1-we are still having a good relation with Bayern and maybe we will ask them to sign Ribery but I think he will go to Madrid
2-Looks like there are current negotations with Gourcuff as its nearly impossible to sign Cesc Fabregas so maybe we will try to sign Gourcuff,he is a great player but there is not need for a new midfielder,I thought we wanted to sign Cesc bec he is a cule but looks like Pep is asking for attacking midfielder which I dont really understand,Yaya showed he can play very well in the Xavi Role and Keita's return is massive while we have JDS and Thiago.the transfer policy of Barca is something I will never understand even in a million years time.

3-Laporta knows that Pep will not stay at Barca for ever(I do want him but it looks like he will not say here forever)the statement
"I do hope Guardiola can be Barca coach at least for another two or three years " says a lot the maximum ambitous is for him to stay 2 or 3 years thats something I dont really like .I want him as our Ferguson, maybe next year or the year after we have a bad season but thats something happens in football.Plz Pep dont leave us ever
4-if Pep has informed the clube he will leave in a 2 years time I think we should prepare his replacement from now and its Tito Vilanova who can learn from Legendry Pep until he decides to leave.

    • sakutsuj says:

what are you talking about? Pep leaving in 2 years, because of some shit written in papers?

      • Mido_cule says:

what papers I have never beleived a report from any paper even Sport and EMD say nothing but lies.I said so because Pep said after ageeing renewal he wont stay foreverhttp://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article… at Barca also Laporta saying I hope he stays up for 2-3 years says a lot.looks like u misunderstood me.Pep is the reason I fell in love with Barca and I hope he stays forever but Pep is a sensitive person and if things didnt go right in one season sure he will ask to leave as he will think this will be better for the club and himself but it wont be better for Pep to leave Barca.sometimes things dont go right even if u have the best managers and the best players and when somethings will go wrong for Barca at some point,I think Pep will consider leavbing but I hope not for sure.

    well said mido.
yeah he made obvious about a few things.
amount of time pep will spend here
and the coach to replace pep amongst other things.
i don't know. i like tito, but no.2'sdon't usually make good managers.

    • Mido_cule says:

I am not sure about Tito's qualities to become a manager but every time he speaks I think he is one of the best talkers ever.I still remmember before taking the Barca job with Pep when he explained the formations and position of players he looked a genius and every time he talks about football I enjoy his words a lot I have learned a lot from Tito about football http://fcbtransfers.blogspot.com/search/label/vil
maybe if he has a strong personality like Pep he can manage Barca but anyway lets hope Pep stays for another 5 years not only 3.
