Guardiola: “They lied and they know it”

Guardiola: “They lied and they know it”

“Not that I’m proud of what I did. I can understand the expulsion, but if we decide to contest [the ruling] it was because Mr. Clos [the referee] and Mr. Gallego [the assistant-referee] lied, and they know it,” was the straight-forward criticism made by FC Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola in his la Liga pre-match press conference today.

Guardiola’s critical words – a rarity, it has to be said – concern the match report for the Almeria game from March 6th, submitted by said referee Clos to the Spanish Liga Discipline and Appeals Committee, which will cause the seldom-complaining coach to miss the match against Valencia tomorrow night.

In the match report, Guardiola was said to have protested incessantly to the assistant referee, complaining about the referee’s inconsistent decisions using words, among others, such as “you whistle at everything the other way round.” In reality, according to Sportthrough video evidence, the coach only protested one event – an incident that involved Messi, in which Pep complained, “He pushes him (Messi), pushes him! Referee, did you not see that he was pushed?”.

While he felt unjustly punished, Guardiola however said he is not overly worried about the injustices handed down to him, “because I’m not that important (to the team’s set-up).”Guardiola also admitted that he does not feel that he is being targeted by match officials after his second red-card this season (the first coming against Malaga on 27th February at Camp Nou from referee Rubinos Perez), according to the paper.

“There will be more expulsions, because I am so impulsive. From time to time I will try to put common sense [into these officials] because it is in my character.”

Maybe some 1 can tell me what did Pep sayd, and what was writen in official report?

    • This is what Marca reported earlier this week: "En el acta, Clos Gómez refleja lo siguiente: "En el minuto 27, Guardiola abandonó el área técnica, desplazándose hasta el asistente y acercando su cara a escasos centímetros de éste, a la vez que le gritaba con los brazos en alto . . ."

Which says, "In the act, Clos Gómez reflected the following: 'In the 27th minute, Guardiola abandoned the coach's area. moving towards the assistant and putting his face within centimeters of him, at the same time he was shouting with arms up . . .'"

I don't know what else was said, but supposedly from the photos it is evident that Guardiola did not approaching him shouting and in an intimidating fashion. I have not seen the photos, but I DO tend to believe our coach. :-)

  2. Glad you posted this. I've been reading the versions that are on 'Sport' and EMD. 'Sport' reports that what Pep really said to the linesman was, "He pushed him. He pushed him. Did you not see that he pushed him?" [in reference to the defender seeming to push Messi in the box].

I've been looking for a video of the actually press conference so that I can hear directly what Pep said, but I haven't found it yet.

I really, really like Pep — he is honest . . . and human. :-) He's my hero! Visca Barca!

I agree, its rare to find people who are as intelligent and genuine at the same time. Pep is a natural as coach, everpresent and expressive and he is the perfect coach for Barça because he believes in the institution and its values (although those at best, are very vaguely described).

i watched video: first pep said: he pushed him(messi), he pushed him. linesman didn't react. than pep said: hey, didn't you see it was a push? linesman didn't react. then pep approaches the linesman and tells him- wasn't i right, did i say somethiong wrong. then the linesman calls head referee and pep gets a red card. then pep approaches the linesman again and totaly calm, asks him: what did i say? what did i say? linesman keeps quiet again. then the fourth referee follows pep into the stands.
    that's all.
interestinmg thing ids that some spanish media published that the linesman who expelled pep is often seen wearing real madrid shirt in his town(i think- zaragoza)…
    so, it's clear…

    • You couldn't put it any better. It's clear he's a Madridista who got Pep and Ibra the red cards… If you see Ibra red, the same linesman could had told the referee that Ibra did not swing his arm and the defender flopped…
Real Mierda is trying so desperate because they can't compete on the pitch… But it's nothing new…

Madrid bribing judges, what a big surprise

Guardiola's reaction is simply stupid. He's right but as coach of Barcelona you should avoid statements like this. It is hard but he should swallow this and not complain.

Now wait until these two monkeys will be match officials at a Barca game again, and you will see the result of Pep's words.

I just love Pep. The referees deserve criticism … FINALLY!

This sucks… The referees are against barca.. But barca also have other problems like Barcelona play in a 4-2-3-1-formation at this time when Guardiola wants to try some different strategies to see if there is an improvement on the team. Xavi, Sergio Busquets play as pivots, Iniesta is on the left flank, Pedro is right-wing and Messi is a sort of attacking midfielder behind Zlatan. So far, this really does not work well because the team's engine, Xavi, too deep into the runway. Guardiola should probably go for 4-3-3 again with Xavi back a bit further up, so that he can begin to help more in the offensive against Malaga recently when his through-passing game ruled.

Another problem is to put Ibrahimovic alone in the penalty area marked with four or more players. It is not exactly the best way to win a match. In recent matches, this has been the case in the first 60 minutes or so. Zlatan is for stationary and waiting for the ball, but how often has it when he almost everything goes through the little, selfish Messi?

When Eto'o was in the penalty area, he was a sort of "predator" who struck immediately when he had the ball. Kameruanen got kriticism because he refused to fit the ball sometimes, even if his team-mates were in a better position. Eto'o wanted himself to score and get all the glory but it is definitely not the case with the super Swede.

Zlatan offers so much more. He is willing to fit the ball into his team-mates and it's a big reason why, among other things, Messi leads top scorer right now instead of Crouch.

Despite all the worries have Zlatan has 15 goals and nine assists in 29 appearances for Barcelona so far. One can only wonder what happens when he adapts completely.
Interesting fact is that at the same time last year, Zlatan has 15 goals in Inter, as many as in Barcelona in the current situation.
Pep can fix all these problems? I hope so and if he succeeds, then it becomes something very, very extraordinary.

  10. @shkumbinuka says:

Pep Guardiola " Henry had enjoyedone of his best weeks, and Chygrynsky needed time. While I’m in charge, he’s staying”. TH14 in superform against Valencia ?? I hope so.. And Pep u are the best man!! Fuck the referees … Real Madrid will get chaugt up like Juventus !!!

  11. BarcaFan says:

I've said it a while back ago, it's so blatantly obvious, these horrendous officiating benefiting Franco Madrid time in time again. Ibra scores a legit goal, gets called for a foul, Franco Madrid scores a similar goal, and it stands. How many easy, soft penalties has Franco Madrid benefited from? They're winning Tenerife by four goals, and a soft penalty is given. We're trailing by a goal or tied and Messi gets fouled, yet no penalty given. Watch at the ease Franco Madrid gets fouls inside the goalie box and outside for Christina to take against calls when Barca are playing. Against Lyon, in the second half, Franco Madrid players starting their diving and rolling around, but unlike La Liga, they couldn't get away with it.

  12. barcacanada says:

i don't mind pep doing this, and even if he does more of it. he just has to remember that they must win…lol

  13. HieiFCB says:

They have to send all those Referee to a camp lol.

Just like the chinese refereee's who are going to anti-fraud camp now xD

  14. Ronaldo(diver)IsGay says:

It's obvious!! Fuck the refs in La Liga!! Fuck all of them. Fuck, this is so obvious! If Pep was Mourinho, God knows what he would have done. I am so fucking pissed off. The referee was f-ing bribed! Can't you see LFP?

  15. Ronaldo(diver)IsGay says:

    F-ing
