George Graham: “Arsene Wenger is a great admirer of Barcelona”
Former Arsenal manager George Graham, said in an interview that current arsenal boss Arsene wenger is a great fan of Barcelona and their total football but believes Wenger needs a physical presence.
“Arsene is a great believer in total football and I think he is a great admirer of Barcelona.
“Whether Arsenal can do a Barcelona in English football… there’s a big question mark over that. I think Wenger loves the way Barca play and I think he wants Arsenal to evolve in that way.”
Graham adds: “Arsene was the manager who developed that pacy and athletic game in England and I don’t know why he has changed it.
“It is a question I would like to ask him myself. When you have succeeded in a certain way at the top level, why change it
“He had great success with the technique, athleticism, intensity and aggression. Can you play total football in England and win the league? I don’t know.
“But it looks as if Arsene is going to go down that route of trying to play like Barcelona.”

Well, if you play total football in Barca's level then of course you can win the EPL. Arsenal are trying to copy Barca but just aren't on that level.
Probably…but not certainly. I'm not 100% convinced that our beloved blaugrana could win the EPL. The English game is so physical and importantly so cynical that it might indeed be a minefield. (Just think how many EPL teams would "park the bus" as Chelsea did last year.) Of course, most aren't nearly as talented as Chelsea so Barca would still win the majority of those games, but I think it would be much harder than we think.
It could even turn out much easier than you think, nothing can be said until Barca actually play in EPL which obviously will never happen. So just assuming Barca will struggle if they play in England just because they are more physical is pointless tbh.
doesn't really matter what anyone say. barca won the 6 in 1 year, that's more than enough proof that we run soccer in this era. our last two cl crowns came from teaching english teams a football lesson.
totally agree. thats the best we can do to prove we are good enough to win EPL also.
if we can school arsenal and man utd… then we can school anyone in EPL.
dude, we wont be playing against chelsea every week, have you seen bolton, hull, stoke etc play?? man u, arsenal and chelsea tear them apart at times, yes there are tough away games, but same as in la liga where real struggle on the road, manure last year only fropped 2 points against teams in the bottom 10. EPL is not as tough as sky sports puts it
Epl top teams are better than la liga top teams, but the bottom 10 is inferior in my opinion.
I thought Spanish teams kick their @$$ when it comes to the Europa league(or cup as it used to be)
If you look at the 6 top teams i.e. Barcelona, RM, Valencia,Sevilla,Athletico Madird, Villareal its better than the top 6 EPL teams
EPL teams have shown strong performances in CL recently but its the same top4 all the while and the rest are shit in Europe
You are wrong. Arsenal would destroy AM, Valencia or Villareal. Chelsea can beat anybody from that list, Utd also. Even City can beat AM or Valencia. Premier league is stronger at this moment, they spend too much
dude, man city couldnt contain valencia, and as for atletico madrid, it depends on which atletico madrid shows up, and NO epl is not stronger than la liga.
the thing i like about spain is that apart from barca and real madrid every team is on lvl terms which makes it unpredictable to which teams will be relegated and which will be qualifying for Europe. spain dominates the europa league(formerly known as the european cup) with the english teams being beaten by italy germany and spain which shows they are poor. england is considered better cause they have more tv coverage. spain needs to land a very big tv deal to get to where england are.
You are wrong Frank in spanish league have a huge gap between Barca and Real madrid and other teams while in england there are about 10 excellent teams Chelsea-Arsenal-Man utd-Liverpool-city-Villa-everton-tottenham-Birmingham-Sunderland,I think EPL is much stronger than La liga although La liga has the best 2 clubs in world
Birmingham, Sunderland, Everton….go on..go on….i wanna hear what other "excellent" teams of EPL that you have in your mind…City sucks ass btw. u know that, lost 2-1 last nite. i watched the game. they sucked too much. Aston Villa only has Young and Agbonlahor. They are considered lucky to have these pacy guys upfront. Liverpool? you gotta be joking. YNWA….You'll Never Win Again.
Aston Villa are a very strong team if u watch them I am sure u will fell in love with the way they plays,Man city need time Spurs and Everton are classy(John Heitenga who is a holland regular left CL team Atletico Madrid for everton who arent in the top 8 in EPL)may be Birmingham and Sunderland arent excellent but they are stronger than Getafe-Gijon who makes it in the top 10 in La Liga
My top 10 in Europe!
The strongest at the moment, Barça
2. Chelsea
3. Man. Utd
4. Real MadRIP
5. Arsenal
6. Inter
7. Valencia
8. Liverpool
9. Man. City( watch the next few years, they will become top3 in EPL)
10. SevillaFc
sevilla are stronger than man city, man city shouldnt even be in the top 10, bayern munich should.
when was the last time internazionale impressed in europe?
when has manc ever competed in the CL?
milan for manc and bayern for inter and bordeaux for sevilla.
Watch out for Bayern! Inter look stronge too. I think Inter and Bayern are the dark horses in CL!
