FC Barcelona tops IFFHS latest club rankings

Spanish football club FC Barcelona tops the world ranking of clubs in the latest release by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS).

According to El Mundo Deportivo, Barca finished first with 321 points, followed by Chelsea FC (286 points), and German club Werder Bremen (284 points) who remained unbeaten in February. Manchester United (278 points) and Shakhtar Donetsk (266 pts) complete the list of the top 5 clubs.

Arch rival Real Madrid is classified as the 33rd team on the list with 179 points. No less than four teams from Spain placed better than the “royal whites.” FC Sevilla (18th place with 202 pts.), Atletico de Madrid (21st place with 196 pts.) and FC Valencia (27th place with 188 pts.) complete the shortlist of teams who placed higher than Real Madrid from La Liga.

Barca lead the standings also in the historical world ranking of clubs with 807 points (since 1991), just ahead of Manchester United (726 pts.), and both Real Madrid and Juventus who are tied for 3rd place with 633 points.  AC Milan is 5th with 620 points.
