Ex-Barca: Merida moving to Atletico Madrid?
Spanish newspaper, AS, claims that former FC Barcelona player and Arsenal midfielder Fran Merida (19) has agreed a five-year pre-contract deal with Atletico Madrid and would be returning to Spain at the end of the season. The Spanish youth international rejected a five-year contract offer from Arsenal in September and is now set to see out the remaining six months with the Gunners, before joining Atletico on a free transfer. Merida has declared on a number of occasions that his dream is to play in the Vicente Calderon with Atletico Madrid, and has also expressed his enormous admiration for ex-Atletico striker Fernando Torres, who Merida has declared as his idol.

have no idea but at one point english press titled him the new cesc. i guess it was another big lie.
it was more a so called ''dirty transfer''.
barcelona did have a preagreement for a contract with merida but arsenal ignored and did negogiate and agreed with him for a contract and thus without the knowledge of the barça administration.
afterwards they recommend him to leave barça and again did not even notyfied the barça administration.
Merida's transfer was like ten times dirtier than Fabregas transfer.
The Fabregas situation was a gentlemen's agreement compared to what happened with Merida.

he was hiding somewhere in spain so barca didnt know where he was and was waiting for birthday so he could sign proffesional contract in arsenal. In that time his agent was joseba diaz, i think the same agent that fabregas had when he moved to england but im not quite sure.
hate these ppl who jump ship in the most disgusting way possible.. atleast he wanted to play on the decent half of Madrid.. tat ways, its acceptable..

Apparently he was crazy about Atletico Madrid when he was young, so no surprise to me if he moves there
i think we got teh compensation for merida didnt receieve that much for cesc but for merida we receievd around 4m pounds n that amounts to 7m euros according to then conversion rate.
he is really good..
i wished he would stay in arsenal longer to develop under wenger properly..
he has a higher risk of ruining his progress if he joins atletico..
