Euro 2012: Tough group for Ibra, comfortable for the rest

Barca’s European players learnt their country’s fate in the Euro 2012 draw made earlier this morning: Spain and France will start favourites in their groups, whilst Sweden have a tougher draw.

The draw, made in Warsaw, was for the qualifying rounds of the tournament with the finals to be held in Poland and Ukraine in 2012. Barca’s only European player not affected was Dmitro Chygrynskiy whose Ukraine team are automatically through as co-hosts.

Easy looking group for Spain

Puyol, Iniesta, Xavi, Busquets and Piqué look to have a clear route to the finals. The reigning champions Spain were drawn in Group I, a group with just five teams, alongside the Czech Republic, Scotland, Lithuania and Lichtenstein.

Abidal and Henry, favourites

France will also start favourites in Group D where they face Rumania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Belarussia, Albania and Luxemburg. With only the winners and the best runners up going through automatically, Henry and Abidal look a safe bet for the finals too.

Ibra, could face Holland

Although Ibra has retired from international football, Sweden may well need to try and coax him back if they are to get through the difficult Group E where they are up against Holland, Finland, Hungary, Moldavia and San Marino.

Hope Ibra doesn't retire so I get to see him here in Finland when Sweden comes =P Or maybe I should hope he does't play so Finland could have a chance at winning them =D I don't know =S

My country Slovenia is in group C and there's no Barca players damn.
But anyway is a tough group. I really can't say who the favorite is. Maybe Italy, but don't know who will be second. Hope Slovenia.

Lol the swedish press is pretty happy with this "tough group"

As a life time Ajax fan, that also supports Barca of course, since we are brothers and have similar football philosophy, I hope Ibra plays for Sweden. It will be a great seeing my Ajax idol take on my beloved Holland. Of course, i want Holland to win, but hopefully Ibra will play and score a goal. I'm sure he'll get a good reception. Come on Ibra, Sweden need you. As for group E, it looks pretty straight forward. I'm sure Holland will do well, but a Sweden with Ibra is one to watch I'm looking forward to the most.

  5. i thought ibrahimovic retired, since he wants to focus on being succesfull with Barcelona…

  6. wtf? Tough group my ass. If Sweden wouldn't face Holland they would have to face eighter Spain, Russia, Italy, Portugal, Germany, England, Croatia or France. Holland is one of the easiest of these teams. San Marino has so far only won one match in history, and that against Liechtenstein. Moldavia is also pretty bad. Finland and Hungary shouldn't be that though eighter.

Yes Ibra retired so he can focus on Barca. 99% of the Swedish football supporters hate Ibra and has never supported him, many thinks its because he doesent have a real swedish name. So they arent really worthy having ibra in the Sweden national team. Its a shame.
