Danish prospect denies any contact with Barcelona

Catalan sports paper Sport reports that Ajax attacking midfielder and Danish youth international Christian Eriksen (18) has denied any transfer rumours, despite the interest from several European top clubs, including Barcelona.

The young Dane stresses the fact that he wants to continue his career in Holland. Speaking to Dutch football magazine Voetbal International, Eriksen said:

“I have read the rumours linking me to Arsenal and Barcelona, but that’s exactly what they are: rumours. People are free to write whatever they want, but I haven’t been in touch with any of those clubs. I’m way too young to leave Ajax for a European giant just yet. I only recently made my official debut at Ajax and I still have a lot to learn here. I’m looking forward to becoming a better player here and I’m happy at Ajax.”

There has been negotiations about Eriksen’s contract between his agent and the club and the young midfielder expects results sooner or later:

“The negotiations are going pretty good as far as I know. I will join my agent for the next meeting and I expect to sign a new deal in the near future,” Eriksen said.

Hi Adam, I'm from the totalBarca team. Are you using Internet Explorer 7? If yes, then that is the problem.

I will be looking into the problem over the weekend. I believe it ONLY happens with Internet Explorer 7. If possible, please email us and describe the problem (with your technical specifications) at: web (at) totalbarca (dot) com.

Keep up the good work! IMHO, I prefer the tan background for the borders tho. They are easier on my eyes, but that is just me.

I didnt see him live but from the videos and from his attitude his future looks bright.snubbig big clubs is not easy but for him he should stay at Ajax for at least 2 years and he looks samrt as he didnt make the fault hundereds of youngsters made at his age.Brilliant.

hiei barca, give us a report on this guy.
how has he performed at ajax so far?
    goed of niet?
is he better than thiago or jds?

I'm danish, and i've been watching him closely for the last 7-8 matches. he is very fast and has quickly adapted to the first team. he scored his first goal yesterday and played a good match. he got his international debut a month ago and was one of the only good players on the danish team that day. he's very quick, has an iniestaish touch on the ball and a very good vision. his speed with the ball is very high and he has a very good right foot(he takes freekicks far from goal and corners. his left leg is almost as good as his right. i believe he is one of the biggest talents in europe and i'm not saying that because i'm danish ;) a young Michael Laudrup. plus he can play on the wings too

      • HieiFCB says:

        Yes, just like Scheelo said.
He got great vision/speedy and is a great candidate for our team.
But we got Thiago and JDS.
You cant compare him to JDS, but with Thiago.. I would say Thiago is better.
Eriksen got more first team minutes and have more chance to develop in Ajax.
Thiago would have to wait for his chance.

Buying Eriksen wont be smart, at least not when we have so much gifted Cantera midfield.

        • Malkeren says:

I agree… even though I'm Danish and would love to see him in Barca. Let him develep further in Ajax for 2-3 years and see if he can become a player good enough to compete at Barca. As you say, we have Thiago and JDS who are both at same level if not better I think. Only thing is that his value will only increase from now on considerring his young age. Now he can be obtained for free. But I think even IF Barca should offer him a contract he would decline it since he seems very smart and grounded. He consider it best for himself to stay in Ajax where he'll get the chance to play first team football. That's something both Thiago and JDS could use too. I think either one of them should be loaned out to another La Liga club next season
