Calderón: “Ronaldo rejected Barcelona.”
Last summer, Cristiano Ronaldo rejected an offer from FC Barcelona, so that he could sign for Real Madrid. Or so claims former Real Madrid president, Ramón Calderón, through several Spanish media outlets yesterday. He furthermore states that it was his doings which ultimately brought the Portuguese to the Bernabeu.
According to Calderon, he had made an agreement with Ronaldo during the month of December 2008. Following the agreement, FC Barcelona allegedly showed interest in the player, but Ronaldo did not want a transfer to the Camp Nou: “He has kept his word and opted for Real. He has rejected Barcelona, I’m one hundred percent sure” said Calderon.
The Portuguese international transferred last summer for a record sum of 94 million euro from Manchester United to Madrid.

Ramon Calderon wants to be loved by the Real Madrid fans that why he usually says that he signed CR9 not Perez and also wants more Media concentrating on him.CR9 is possibly the second best player in the world and an excellent player a Ronaldo-Zlatan-Messi would have been explosive but I wont have welcomed this even if it would have lead to another 6,its all about culture of the club which reject arrogants,I hope that our best academy player dont turn out to be like Cristiano even if he is the best in world.even if CR9 has decided to join Barca I dont think Xavi-Iniesta-Puyol would have welcomed him

To be honest, it isn't that far-fetched that FC Barcelona would have been interested in Ronaldo on a commercial level – imagine the amount of money/attention/bla bla FC Barcelona could attract with a front line of Messi, Ibra and Ronaldo. However, if think the transfer might have been blocked by Guardiola? Who knows, Guardiola might even have been able to straighten Ronaldo out?!

You're probably right .. It would be a slim chance of getting both .. However, my original point still stands. From a business view, all we hear is that Ronaldo have been an excellent signing. So again, it isn't that far-fetched to believe some people in the administration was interested in him – ala Robinho were the players turned him down.
If he really rejected Barcelona- than it's one good thing he actually did in his whole career… seriously, this is probably the only player in the world that I wouldn't stand in the Barca shirt…
Ronaldo doesn't deserve to play for a humble side like Barca. Ronaldo stands for everything, Barca is not!
i would have felt betrayed if Barca signed him. But i doubt this is true. If anything Nike wanted him in Barca for $$$ reasons.
i don't know guys..i read in the papers like in 2006 or 2007 that barca was interested in ronaldo. even at the time we signed quaresma.
Apparently Madrid has not always been Ronaldo's favorite club… According to some team-mate of his at Utd(Don't remember his name but he's got a very funny one) Ronaldo always used to dream about wearing the Blaugrana during his early days at Utd.
But I don't know how far it is true, many fans ridiculed his statement saying he's been a total flop after moving from Utd and hence for a li'l lime-light he's speaking all bull-shit
lol no way i remeber when rooney and ronaldo had a fight when england played portugal. Then Man untd offered ronaldo to barca and barca said noo because Henry was coming. So there is no way this story can be true.
prolly made some inquiries but only a general one. i remember some british papers quoting txiki saying barca was interested, but this was some time ago, certainly before dec 2008 when he supposedly agreed with madrid. calderon is just full of cwap as per usual.
