Brito: “Mourinho is simply better”
Jose Mourinho’s former assistant, Brazilian Baltermar Brito (58) thinks that Mourinho is currently way ahead of Guardiola as a coach and that the Catalan giants are scared of the Portuguese.
“For me he (Mourinho) is the best coach in the world,” he told Ona FM. “Better than Guardiola? He has won more titles than him.”
“I don’t know Guardiola well enough, because he hasn’t been around so long, but I think he (Mourinho) is a bit above him.”
Despite the fact that Josep Guardiola was the first coach to lead a Spanish team to a historical treble, Brito thinks that Mourinho’s presence in this year’s encounters between both teams will be all marked by the Portuguese and his tactics. He particularly highlighted the stress of the Barcelona players ahead of the game(s).
“Mourinho is an extra motivation for the Barca players. That’s why the Catalans and the Barca players are worried about him.”
Brito also took a moment to remember the time when Mourinho received a very hostile reception as a Chelsea coach when “The Blues” faced Barcelona in the Nou Camp. According to Brito, Mourinho will not be aiming for revenge but will be fully focused on Madrid, and that’s what’ll make him succeed.
“His objective is not Barca, but to win titles and be champion of Europe (with Madrid). I was witness to how he wasn’t well received by the crowd at the Nou Camp and I don’t understand it, because they had no reason for it,” said Brito, as quoted by Sportinglife.com.
