Barcelona tracking Patrick Vieira

Barcelona tracking Patrick Vieira

Several Spanish sources, including Sport and Marca, are reporting that Inter Milan midfielder and French international, Patrick Vieira (33), is rumoured to be a target of several European top clubs, including Barcelona. Manchester City and Lyon are also strong candidates to sign Vieira during winter transfer market.

Speaking to Marca, Lyon’s special adviser Bernard Lacombe spoke about both clubs’ interest, saying: “Patrick has a lot of offers. Barcelona would like to recruit him, to make up for the loss of Yaya Toure and Seydou Keita during the African Nations Cup. They would give him an 18 month contract. However he would play less when these players return, and this concerns him, because he wants to play in the World Cup.”

Manchester City still remain favourites to sign Vieira, but it is clear that they still face plenty of competition.

  1. I won't mind signing him, very experienced and still in good shape.

  2. only on loan until the end of t he season of course.

personally i agree with pep opinion its just useless to sign someone right now. i would prefer piqué than him for backing up the defensive midfield role.

i guess vieiras time is up he had become very slow and was often injurd. he isn't capable for playing in a great club.

  4. I doubt Viera will be able to play much in the World Cup, but he can keep hoping. At any rate, I think Marquez and Busquets can handle the DM position until Toure and Keita are back.

would be awesome to sign him as a backup to toure; while leaving busi out of the squad. that'd be awesome!
