Barca looking to replace Pinto with Sociedad’s Claudio Bravo
Catalan sports tabloid Sport, report that Barca are looking to replace second choice keeper Jose Manuel Pinto with Chilean international Claudio Bravo (26).
The Barcelona staff still regard Victor Valdes as their undisputed first choice, but they are seeking a more secure back-up. Their main target is Claudio Bravo of Real Sociedad.
The keeper is Marcelo Bielsa’s first choice for the Chilean national team, and has only let in 16 goals in 16 games in Liga Adelante this season. It is to be noted though that Bravo has only just extended his deal with Real Sociedad to 2013.
Barcelona have apparently been tracking the market for a keeper who is both good coming off the line and with the ball at his feet and Bravo seems to fit both those aspects.

What happens to Jose Manuel Pinto then ?
Anyone who'd want to buy him ?
I think I beleive this report a bit
so bravo wil be satisfied to be back up for valdes?
he is starter at Chile, isnt it?
i cant see this happenning,we should look for better back up for valdes though.
Pinto is getting really old, I think there is a gap to be closed between Valdes and the youth keepers who are still far from offering a secured back up at least for the following three years (if they ever will). Getting a new keeper this summer is predictable.
And Pinto has no market value for Barcelona to sell. He is a 35 years keeper with an expiring contract. So we will not "sell". IWe'll just avoid renewing his contract. Of course thats if we found another option, which is a must.
Bravo, still too good to be true IMO. He may even put more pressure on Valdes than needed.
Is Bravo too good to be true?
I totally agree with our staff. What's making Valdes so great for us is his excellent play with the ball at his feet, and his fantastic one-on-one reactions. Sometimes we take this for granted. But those characteristics are the most important for a Barca keeper, the way we play.
A 26 old international keeper who is heading to represent Chile in the following world cup is too good to be a bench warmer. Unless if he is a scuicidal regarding his football career. Thats unlikely
i dunno how good he is if hes playing in the second division. he just may be happy to come to a huge club with an excellent tradition and play as a back up…
Pinto is a great guy in the dressing room though. Remember him running and catching up with Guardiola when Iniesta scored? Sad to see him go, if it happens.
Yep we need him !!!
agreed pinto seems to bring alot to the dressing room, and helped us win the copa last year, still guess the team as to keep changing but will be hard to find someone so content to be second choice.
David De Gea is also good option
atletico madrid kid (David De Gea ) he is good who would be out of contract nxt season i think and has competition 4m sergio asenjo David too so he would like to move and there were rumours of him linking with manu
give cassilas a mega deal and put him on the bench.
or play him in the reserve leagues… and let him know that someday he might just catch up with valdes…
We're not Real Madrid. So there will be no mega deal.
I'd say Pinto's contract extension will be the best decision. De Gea is still young, and maybe won't learn much by becoming a benchwarmer. Pinto's still good and his attitude is a plus. I think he deserve 2-3 more years.
Anyway, how about La Masia's goalkeeper talent?
there are some rumors that buffon would like to go out from juventus, because the positon table. what about him??
i just dreaming:)
la masia goalkeeping talent not great unfortunetly.
oier- had horrible debut against mallorca
ruben mino- not consistent enough a substitute
best option is to buy de gea NOW
he is a good prospect, will not be a starter immediaetly, but has the potential to be the next big thing.
I can get it, why are you talking about young keepers? The best GK atm are around 28-33 years old.. and by sitting on the bench noone improves a lot on this position.. but if we are looking for a youngster look at Joe Hart, I'm sure Valdes won't be so sure for his position with Joe around him.
Can we just play with an extra player in the field instead? Enough of this goalkeeping nonsense.

I like Pinto and prefer he stays. Let's not forget how many keepers we went through till we settled on Valdes. Pinto seems to be fine in his position and has not really hurt this team nor grumbled or moaned about it. What's the point of signing a young keeper who won't get to play than 10 games the most.
That said, if Valdes also suffers an injury, which we are thankful he hasn't, then I prefer Pinto to come in and start. He doesn't seem awe struck by playing this position that many keepers before him, Baia made tons of errors, have committed in the past.
