Barca deny Cesc agreement
FC Barcelona have today denied all the rumours suggesting they have reached an agreement with Cesc Fabregas (22) of Arsenal. A statement on the club’s official website read:
“Given the exceptional repercussions created by the stories that have appeared in different media with respect to an agreement with Arsenal FC player Cesc Fàbregas, FCB flatly denies that there have been any negotiations or agreements with the player.
In accordance with FIFA regulations, FC Barcelona’s contract policy has always made it a priority to negotiate with the club of origin before making any particular agreement with the player.
FC Barcelona wishes to stress that it has always maintained excellent institutional relations with Arsenal FC”.

it is not the first time we hear a club saying they had no agreement and then suddenly it's all done.
however i hope barca didn't reach an agreement with cesc cause that would put us in a bad light.
Seems Arsenal gets their just desert
It's interesting how the papers that apperently support Barca can put us in whole lot of trouble. We simply CANNOT have an agreement with the player if Arsenal didn't allow us to talk to him…
Few more stories like this (or, even worse, some truth in this)- and the only transfers Barcelona will be able to make are going to be in Football Manager…
This way beyond "interesting" and "exciting"- usually the transfer rumours are part of fun, something to spice up things, to excercise fans imaginations. But… it's to much, only 1-2 months ago it was robinho and everybody were jumping on eachother saying he's either crap or brilliant, now it's Cesc… Just take a look where exactly Robinho is right now and than read those "stories" with that in mind…
I mean- those papers are actually getting worse than GOAL.COM!!!
nothing is worse than goal.com………….

They cant put us in any trouble. Who is going to say they agreed a contract? Us? Nope we havent agreed anything? Cesc? Nope his agent has denied it. There is no proof we have done anything wrong and a simple denial like the one we issued today kills any issue.
Does it?
Imagine in the end we do sign Cesc. Than Arsenal, following those allegations complains. The issue is looked at more closely- and… if there was a meeting and an agreement, they may find out. No matter what we said in a press statement.
That's why I could expect sth like this from Arsenal or marca- but not from apparently pro-Barcelona media…
garbage.com is the worst by far! Dont be an idiot!
One more thing.
We are so proud of the fact that we are different than Real Madrid- they are all about money, they are bullies, they don't have much class, etc.. In fact those papers would be probably the first to say that. And yet with all those stories, the way they are reported- those stories make us look not that much different from Real Madrid. I honestly don't like it one bit.
In truth we are not too different from Real Madrid but then neither is any club. Wenger recently said Chris Smalling a player who was with another team “could have a future at Arsenal” How is that any different from Cesc would fit in nicely at Barcelona which is what Laporta has been saying and what Arsene has been crying about.
The simple fact is that Fabregas said he would like to return one day. Our club has done nothing wrong in the interim.
What I'm saying is- I'm surprised that this kind of story comes from sources apparently sup[porting the club. Yet they put the club in an uncomfortable possition, forcing this kind of statement. That's what I'm surprised with, that's something I don't like…
Did you really expect us to come out and say yes? Cesc’s agent has also denied it.
Us? We dont know anything about Cesc
I didn't expect anything- I'm simply saying that I don't like those press revelations at all, that they are putting the club in prety bad light IMO (the club reaction was the only possible way to do). You say we are not that much different than Real Madrid- I beg to differ. Or at least this is something that I want to believe in.
Unless we all say the whole "more than a club" is nothing but an empty catchphrase…
I'm simply saying that I'm fed up with the way this whole story is being reported. This story and the one about Villa- honestly, I don't see any difference… The difference is, this one comes from paper apparently supporting barcelona, the one that should in theory care about the good image of the club… I would expect this kind of story (about the agreement with fabregas) frrom As or Marca, actually…!
What "exceptional repercussions"?
What are the penalties that would be levied against Barça for "tapping up" a player like Cesc (an illegal approach under contract law)?
Cesc is under contract until 2014
Tere could be (if proven it happened) a transfer ban, for instance… not very good thing, is it?
