FC Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola has released a list of 20 players he will take to Villarreal’s El Madrigal tomorrow.
A positive development for the team is the medical clearance given to Xavi Hernandez, who joined in the team’s exercises today. The midfielder had to withdraw from the group session yesterday after complaining of a left leg calf pain. The ailment was nothing serious and so the player’s name is included in the roster.
French left-back Eric Abidal also trained normally with the rest of the team with no visible physical problem, but does not get the call as he has yet to be cleared to play by the club’s medical services.
The only noticeable absentee in the session was Sergio Busquets, who exercised at the gym to recover from a bruised left knee, but is part of the squad for tomorrow – Andres Iniesta is expected to be out for the rest of the season.
Due to the uncertainty in his midfield department, Guardiola also summoned Barca Atletic’s midfielder, Thiago Alcantara, to this morning’s training, and the 19-year-old is included in the squad list.
The players available are:
Goalkeepers Valdes and Pinto;
Defenders Alves, Puyol, Pique, Milito, Maxwell, Marquez and Chygrynskiy;
Midfielders Xavi, Busquets, Keita, Toure and Thiago;
Forwards Messi, Ibrahimovic, Pedro, Henry, Bojan and Jeffren
