Zlatan: “We are ready to win everything”5

In a press conference held at the club yesterday, Barcelona striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic said he feels the team is “ready” for the immediate challenges awaiting the team towards the end of the year: “First is the match against Kiev, then Espanyol, but the Club World Cup trophy is a very important title, one that is still lacking with this club. If we win it, Barcelona would have conquered everything, all in a year and a half, and we are ready to win every one of them,” said a confident Ibrahimovic.

However, the striker is well aware that it will “not be easy” to beat Dynamo Kiev on Wednesday but after overcoming Inter Milan, Real Madrid and Deportivo, he is optimistic: “In the last few weeks, we have won against tough opponents, and now against Dynamo. We want to win this because it is a great chance for us to top our group. It will be another tough match as they are last in the group (though still with a chance), but if we win, everything will be fine.”

The Swede said he is progressing well with his new team and admits can still be better over time: “Barca played a game that I really like. They are always making good attacking moves and the whole team played their part.”

“After three months, I have a better understanding of what the coach wants. He speaks clearly and is very direct. He explains to me how he wants things done. And given the freedom to move on the pitch, I am less stressed, and I can focus more.”

“I know I can do better, but I have had injuries that prevented me from being a hundred percent. When I can have a full month without injury, things will be a lot better and easier,” he added.

Asked about a possible number of goals scored at the end of the season, Ibrahimovic would not want to give a specific number but does think he’ll improve on the goal tally that he achieved in Italy: “I want to score as many goals as possible as Barca is a very offensive team, they can create a lot of goal-scoring chances, and we usually have 5 or 6 players upfront”

“This never happened in the five years that I played in Italy. There, if you win 1-0; that is already enough. What is more important for them is not to concede. But here, they want you to score more goals,” he acknowledged.

Finally answering a question about his relationship with his strike partner, Lionel Messi, the Swede stressed that he gets along very well with the Argentine star on and off the pitch: “I like him a lot. I got to know him better with each passing day and I am having a lot of fun when we play together.”
