Xavi Hernandes was quoted today by FourFourTwo.com as expecting this Saturday’s League match against Atletico Madrid to be more open and attractive than last Wednesday’s Champions League match.
“Historically these have always been attractive games with a lot of goals,” Xavi said on the club’s website.
“They are in an unexpected situation so I imagine a more open match.”
The unexpected situation that he mentioned relates to the turmoil facing the Atletico Board, who has to deal with fans displeasure over their lack of action during the recent transfer period.
The turmoil seems to have affected the Rojiblancos, who have only managed to score one point from a possible six, and are currently lying third from bottom. This has led Maxi Rodriguez, their Argentine International midfielder to sum up what is needed to lift the team, by saying, “If we beat Barca it will give the team a huge boost,” adding, “We have to lift our heads, believe in ourselves and win.”
