Robinho deal could be done in December

Catalan sports paper Sport reported that Barcelona is considering giving Robinho (25) an opportunity to prove to Real Madrid, that they have done him a great injustice. It would, undoubtedly be a masterstroke by the Blaugrana, since Robinho would come with a insatiable desire to regain his image in the Spanish League and of vindicating himself as an exceptional player, while Laporta could somehow return the favour to Real Madrid for their interference in the failed signing of Ribery and its constant public desires for the likes of Lionel Messi and Andres Iniesta.

The signing is said to be well under way.  In fact, Sport thinks the deal could be closed during the Club World Cup tournament in Abu Dhabi, to be held in mid-December, where a meeting between Barcelona president, Joan Laporta and the Owner of Manchester City could be arranged.

In principle, Barcelona will place a transfer request with the English club until the end of the season with a purchase option. Initially the Blaugrana club could put down €4 million as a pre-agreement, but the English club might want Barcelona to pay more, a move that could hinder further negotiations.

Pep Guardiola could have personally given his blessing to this deal in order to give Frenchman Thierry Henry, who currently has no natural replacement at left-wing, some competition. Iniesta and Pedro are the players who had to play as a makeshift left-winger when Henry was absent. This summer, Barcelona tried their utmost to meet Pep Guardiola’s requirement of strengthening the left flank by trying to get Bayern Munich’s star, France’s Franck Ribéry, but the operation was eventually foiled by Real Madrid president Florentino Perez’s manoeuvres.

And this Barcelona interest in Robinho could be a good business proposal for Manchester City as Robinho is said to have an open feud with his coach, former Blaugrana himself, Mark Hughes. In fact, the player himself had acknowledged to his closest circles his wish would leave the English club during the winter transfer market, and that Barcelona’s offer is the one he wants, among others, although it could initially be only for a six-month loan.

One of the key persons responsible for making this operation a success is the scout, Pepe Costa, who for many years has maintained a close relationship with several Brazilian players including with the Manchester City striker.

Robinho is currently injured in his right ankle, and is out for three weeks, while his performance at the English club so far this season is rather disappointing. In fact, the striker has only played three competitive games.

Either way, even if ultimately the deal fails, FC Barcelona will still have two other players in their sights,  Shakhtar Donetsk’s Willian (21), or Valencia’s Juan Mata (21).

  1. hmm interesting…. lol

  2. MiDO H. says:

well i highly recommend Willian, but we dont know how well would he adjust to the Barca System and willian is : Cheaper, Younger and has very similar skills compared to robinho.
while robinho , a natural left winger has already proven him self as a great player, and IMO will fit in perfectly with pep's system but i dont think he'll score more than 20 per season. if he reaches 20 goals it would be perfect. ( and i wouldnt pay more than 30-35 Mill for him)

  3. robinho is a winger/fwd give him time and enough play and he could reach 20 goals but that is a alot to ask for someone coming in january 20 goals in half season is impossible for someone now joining a team.

  4. laurensBarca says:

i agree with MiDO, we must not overpay for him although he is a real great prospect

  5. barca freak says:

yes folks wat abt suarez uh av not heard or seen much of willian

  6. barca freak says:

folks think of that soon kerrison ,messi, suarez andmore creative mid fielders and we will rule europe fore a long time.but we need a good young right back up for alvez younger good center backs, holding midfielders and a left back that is creative n does crosses ball like alves qaulities of alvez and europe going to fear us

  7. hahahaha William…Do you really think Pep will trust that guy to put him in the first 11? there are funny guys here. One more thing Robinho is not a natural left winger stop making up stuffs. Ribery is the man here, after him, maybe Robinho, Suarez. Silva on the other hand likes to act more in the midfield, so…

  8. Don't want Robinho (Or Ribery for that matter). Henry can handle the wing for a few more years and Pedro and Jeffren are coming along nicely. Don't need to spend for another one.

    • lol we should have an ignorant comment of the day. "Henry can handle the wing for a few more years".." we got jeffren and pedro coming along nicely". simple case of football disorder. newsflash matthew this is henry's last year and pedro and jeffren aren't yet starting quality so ribery or robinho or silva or whoever is needed. more speed on the wing is always nice.

This is Barça!!! Not Milan… lol!

  9. Anonymous_69 says:

Ribery or David Villa would be awesome. Maybe even Iniesta if we get Mascherano or another DM backup and put all trust in Busquets. I always want to use Toure as an AM.

  10. saini10 says:

i would ratehr go for luis suarez he is the best option for barca on the left. Just look at his playing style and damn he has a good eye for goal

  11. 0marX says:

The time has come for R7!

  12. shok says:

If robinho we will become an amazing team a super team more super than we are now for one reason remember robinho was the creative force behind Madrid . when he left madrid lost everything lolll so imagine having 2 super players who can create and score robinho and messi and ibra ! beside he will give henry some thing to think about. and will keep him in a better shape . but also it will give Pedro less time that's the only thing i dont like about it :( .

  13. frank says:

This is what i'd like to see by next year:
Robinho as the first choice left winger;Pedro as the first choice sub for either wing.Bojan as backup for CF position.Henry would go to US.Jeffren should be loaned out/sold.

Cesc/Suarez as the big summer signing?

  14. Luimac says:

David villa would be the best aquisition for barca. Seriously it should not matter the price… he will make barca almost invinsible and can also play CF. Robhino is a great left winger but Ribery would br better. But ribery is not gonna happen.. or villa for that matter.. not on the dec window at least..

  15. Anurag says:

I want Robinho. He is a great player. Sure, he has some temperamental issues, but then, so did Ibra. Pep can handle any player.

    • M3SS1_1B3A says:

i agree with u……1000000000000000000% Robinho is great player for Barca, Barca need Robinho…. I more like Ribery, but he will not come, so Robinho is great solution….. he can play on wing, so i expect Robinho than Fabregas, beacuse we have 2 great midfielders: Iniesa & Xavi…

  16. Andrés says:

I'm concerned about Robinho's character and prefer he could be loaned out to prove his commitment before a transfer. One way or another, my favorite option is Mata.

  17. Dolce says:

Robinho would be a good solution but not the best. He has problems to use his full potential and he is a very inconsistent and moody player. A loan deal would suit all parties, Robinho wants to leave England and Barca could see how he would suit Barca. City is eyeing Ribery in January transfer market which is great because otherwise RM would almost surely buy him next summer. If we were really cheeky we would buy Villa and turn him into a LW like in Henry´s case. Its ridiculous think that wingbacks like Willian or Zhirkov would be useful in Barca´s 4-3-3 as a LW, they could run and dribble but how many goals would they score or set up?

  18. HouseMD says:

Hi guys! Nice to hear you again.
I just red that it'll be double swoop Robinho-Kompany and Barca will include Puyol and Toure.
    Bad

  19. chazan says:

That's all non-sense. Wherever you read ^^ that you should stop reading from there. How in the world would Yaya leave after he renewed his contract this season. He may (highly doubt it) leave in some time to reunite and play alongside his brother. Puyol is indeed closer but still pretty unlikely. I believe if Puyol ever left he would go to Milan where they seriously need his help and where his idol played at.

  20. I fail to see how robinho would be a bad signing, looks like the perfect replacment for henry. hates Real Madrid, has played well last season when man city had no other decent players, has a lot of skill and ball control, but most importantly has a good combination of youth/experience to cope in la liga and the champions league. i hate to break it to some fans but i beleive the david villa option may be finally dead in the water, it was a simple option of him or ibra and theres no way that the club would ever buy both as we simply do not need both with the current system that we are playing. Either way i do think that we are def in the transfer market for someone big, so let the good times roll!! :-)

  21. Tengku says:

I hope we get him. It will be the best for the team
