Puyol: “I’ve got ten more years”

Barcelona defender and Spanish international Carles Puyol (31) shared his thoughts with Catalan news paper El Mundo Deportivo. The team captain’s performance has been highlighted by Pep Guardiola and cheered by the fans. He feels very good and optimistic to meet the ambitious challenges that await Barcelona team that won record fine cups.

Barca seek new challenges after winning a historic treble, and has already won two titles this season. “The team is working very well. We had a perfect season, but we want more,” Puyol said after a victorious Champions League game against Dynamo Kiev.

In statements to the media, Puyol has also thanked his club for the treatment he has got, “(the club) always behaved with me very well.” The captain, who currently waits for a renewal, has no doubts about his fitness. “I still have ten more years of football”, Puyol says jokingly. “Physically I feel great, despite my age. I’m not worried.”

Puyol needs to retire at Barca, whenever he feels that time has come. He is a natural leader to this team, he gives everything he has to this team, he bleeds for his team mates. You simply cannot ask for someone better than that to be leading your team into battle.
