Medical: Keita out for ten days

FC Barcelona’s Malian Seydou Keita will not travel to Ghana to play in his national team’s 2010 World Cup qualifier on Saturday as he will be out for ten days because of a swollen medial collateral ligament (MCL) in his left knee, according to Madrid sports paper Marca.

The player, who started against Mallorca (4-2), ended the match with a discomfort in his left knee and after a day of rest, the club reported that the midfielder suffered a ligament edema (abnormal accumulation of fluid beneath the skin).

Keita spent Monday morning running tests at the club’s clinic that confirmed the diagnosis. The player will now stay in Barcelona undergoing medical treatment.
