Liga 1, Week 12: Espanyol B 0-2 FC Barcelona Atletic

Barça Atlètic, managed by Luis Enrique, have scored a well-deserved 0-2 win over cross-city rivals Espanyol B.

The first half hour belonged pretty much to the home side and Espanyol B had as many as four clear chances to take the lead. And with the Barça players forced back into their own half a well-organised Espanyol defence had little work to do.

First chance, first goal

In the 17th minute, Espanyol should have taken the lead but Jonathan Dos Santos cleared off the goal line. Barça gradually shook off the Espanyol pressure and in the 28th minute Nolito converted Barça’s first clear chance of the match.

Debut for Martí Riverola

Barça were looking more and more dangerous and Soriano had three chances to double the lead against his old club. In the 35th minute Martí Riverola came on to make his reserve team debut.

Barça ride the storm

In the second half, Espanyol pressed hard for an equalizer and enjoyed most of the possession. However, Barça defended well and the home team created few opportunities.

Barça double their lead

Little by little, Barça took back control of the match and the introduction of Gai gave the attack more mobility. An own goal in the 68th minute then gave Barça a comfortable two-goal lead.

Both teams had their chances to score in the closing minutes but the score line stayed 0-2 in Barça’s favour.

Barça Atlètic have now won five of their last six and have 21 points.

How old is Edu Oriol? Is he as promising as Gai?

hes 22 and no hes not as promising as Gai, the reason Gai didn't start was because he was going to play with the first team in midweek in the copa del rey so they didn'y want him to get tired..
