Juventus ready to sign Caceres

Juventus ready to sign Caceres

Italian sports paper Tuttosport claims that Juventus is ready to sign permanently Barcelona loaned-out defender, Uruguayan international Martin Caceres (22).

Caceres joined Barcelona on 4 June 2008, with a reported transfer fee of 16.5 million euros (unconfirmed) from Villarreal. A buyout clause of 50 million euros was included in the deal, which expires in June 2012. Unable to break into the starting eleven permanently, he was used sparsely by the Catalan team during his first season at Barcelona. He was only the fourth choice defender, behind the Catalan captain Carles Puyol, Rafael Marquez and Gerard Pique.

On 30 July 2009, it was announced by Barcelona that the Italian Serie A club agreed to take Caceres on loan with the option to buy him at the end of the 2009-10 season. On 12 September 2009 Cáceres scored his first goal with Juventus in his debut Serie A match against Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, Italy.

The paper claims Juventus is willing to dish out 17 million euros for Caceres during the summer transfer window with its sports director, Alessio Secco reportedly already starting negotiations with Barcelona about the permanent transfer deal.

well if he got better at Juve its better to get him back , bcz Juve would never pay 17 mill i mean thats crazy, we'll be lucky if they pay up to 10 mill .. we can get him back and he could second choice Right Back , he has the speed for it :)

  2. manolo says:

Í like Cáceres very much.. He do got some massive potentials and can be the best CB but It feels like he's toe eager.
I impressed more on me than Dima have done and Dima has got more playtime than Martin..
But in Barça every singel player need to have very good passingskills which Martin doesn't have(or not to good)

  3. BArca fan says:

Nah, let him stay in italy, he does some crazy things at times and we cannot afford that,

  4. HouseMD says:

He is far better than Chygrinskiy. I was watching Juve-Inter clash last weekend and I must admit that he's improving fast. He was excellent on the right back position and you can check at goal.com player ratings. I see him as the great replacement for Alves, so there's no reason to buy another right back while he can play every position in the defense.
Regarding Chygrinskiy, it was not convincing buy so far, unfortunately. I hope he'll become better. On the other side, it would be great to see those youngsters as the replacements for Marquez, Puyol and Milito as well. I can imagine defensive line: Caceres-Pique-Chygrinskiy-Henrique.

Wow!! this really puts us in between the rock and a hard place!!!!
Sell Caceres to Juve for a profit or give him another go in our squad….Don't think Pep sees much in him though…Although i'm certain if sold,he would cost a lot less-mebbe 10-12 million and not 17 million as the paper suggests….
It would be nice to have a defender who had the qualities of Chyg and Caceres-Big strong/good passer/with excellent pace…for 25+17=42 million we definitely would've got one….

    • Barca fan says:

for 42 million we could have bought any defender in the world really… from any club. terry, vidic, carvalho, chiellini, gamberini, subotic, lucio, walter samuel, chivu, etc.
hell we cud have even bought maicon and had the luxury of 2 of the worlds best RBs…LOL!
But life does not work out perfectly always… so we shud just deal with it. also.. i do think chygrynskiy will eventually turn out to be an elite defender like the ones mentioned above… maybe not in the next 2 matches.. but definitely over the next 1-2 seasons. and thats why Pep bought him.. he is only 22! am sure over a long term chyggy will be a great asset.

  6. barca96 says:

i would rather take cacres back and let him be a back up for alves..
i'd rather not put puyol at rb cos the only other reliable CB we have atm
    is pique…
with chiggy or marquez, its just waiting for a disaster to happen..

  7. Bojantee says:

Juve must be mad.we only send him there to have some playing times and confidence.he is coming back home next season.by Gods grace.

  8. Dolce says:

Juve has an option to buy him for about 11 million next summer but of course Barca can call him back and later try to sell him for a higher price to somewhere else

  9. Just let him go. We've got plenty of CB's and we can get someone else as understudy for Alves, someone willing to sit the bench a lot.

  11. Gilmango says:

This article is pure crap, Juve already has the right to buy him from us for about 12 million, so they are not going to pay 17, Pep doesn't like him, he aint coming back, if we get 12 we only lost 4.5 plus wages. End of story. Just hope Juve does buy him.

    • FCB_fR3aK says:

Yes you are right. Juventus has the buy option on Caceres for next summer at 11 million euros (not 12 mill). Well he hasnt been really amazing or anything for Juve , but he's put in some good performances at right back. Juve have complete control over the Caceres situation. They can either buy him , or not buy him. If they want to buy him , theres nothing we can do about it.

      • HieiFCB says:

The player can still decide I think.
It's always the player who is under control.
But regarding his chances last time, you can say that Pep doesn't like him at all.

I still think Caceres got potential, he is a fighting machine like Puyol and Alves.

  12. Hauns says:

Not the article from tuttosport is crap, this article from totalbarca is crap. Get your facts straight guys, I like this site, good overview over the actions going on, but you have to be more careful with your facts/research.

EMD mentions tuttosport and they say Juve wants to re-negotiate the option, so that they should only have to pay about 10 Mio. for him, which seems much more reasonable:

  13. MessidaBomb says:

he is far worse at cb than chrgrynskiy. he could be alves successor to right back

  14. CHILEBARCA says:

he caused a penalty for juve some minutes ago!!! hes just a f*ckup!

  15. manolo says:

Watch this vid in Hq guys.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zdxJ-PakRnY
I think I just came when I saw these Aggresive-slide tackles of glory..

Now that's what Martin did what the fuck have Dima done so far? played some nice balls over the sidelines and maybe one and another to Xavi. Slow and a bit clumsy, we need a fast aggresive one!

  16. best news i heard we finally getting read of these loan players, hopefully the useless hleb is next and hey henrique too…

  17. rahul says:

YA LOL I REALLY DOUBT THAT JUVE ARE GONA BUY HIM AFTER JUST WHAT HAPPENED TODAY AGAINST BAYERN PATHETIC PATHETIC PLAYER. ERRATIC TACKLES GAVE AWAY A STUPID PENALTY. BUT IF THEY DO I WUD BE SO HAPPYYYY.

    • BArca fan says:

lol lol lol, said the same exact thing, juve have no intention to sign him now, and to imagine, we were tTHIS CLOSE to getting our money back….now we have to type out a 35 page resume to make caceres look attractive so people will want him.

  18. David says:

I agree Barca needs a fast and aggressive defender who is also good on the ball, like a Puyol and Terry type player… Muniesa!!! The new Puyol!!! He fits in the requirements!!!

  19. Anonymous_69 says:

Caceres wil be a good replacement for Alves when he is injured. It would be good to have a player like him that can play in all positions like Puyol.

    • Fenderek says:

Oh yes, that's what we need- a player who will either be sent off (Uruguay-Argentina) or makes stupid mistakes (Juve-Bayern) in the games that really matter…

Man, yesterday he showed exactly why he doesn't play for Barcelona this year- and why he is not going to come back… I hope, anyway…

  20. BArca fan says:

ummmm, did you not see the juve bayern game today?

  21. Ibracadabra says:

    LOLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!

  22. Luimac says:

*sigh* Just cause a Caceres made a mistake today doesnt mean he is not Barca material. He would be GREAT back up for alves. He is fast, strong and attack minded. He has been playing very solid for Juve and is going to get only MORE experience in the World Cup, since he is part of the 1st string for Uruguay. I have seen Busquets made sooooo many blunders for barca since last season but I dont see anyone here saying, "GET RID OF HIM". Same goes for Valdes… Barca already got him, he i getting very good experience as a defender on the best defensive league worldwide… AND he is still in his early 20s.

  23. Fenderek says:

Busquets doesn't make such basic things wrong- and Valdes, don't be daft. He's having a really good season, a goal against Depo was his first major mistake entire season. Should have been here (or rather Pep's blog) last season when he was having with mistakes- yeah, there were voices "get rid of him".
Caceres is good enough to play against teams like Almeria or Xerez. Selecting him against someone stronger is a suicide. It's not only Beyrn game- remember qualifier against Argentina? Or tell me- when exactlky did he have ONE good gamne in barcelona colours? Maybe that's why people don't say "has to go" about Busquts, because he actually did play some really good games and can see his talent?

If they are really willing to pay around 10 million- I would only say "bye, good luck". He's good for Juventus or something. Jesus, people, Barcelona is really different level, were you born yesterday or just joined in after the treble?

    • Luimac says:

busquets is not good at barca fast pace passes. he makes constant mistakes in that area, amd btw passing in barca is basic. His passes are very inaccurate AND he blunders the ball from time to time. Im i saying he is a bad player? no.. but he is not at barca 1st string level yet… still pep takes his chances with him… all im saying is that Caceres is the same.. sure he makes mistakes but if u dont think he is a good defender.. then u just one of those stupid fans that dont checks with reality. Busquets comes from barca cantera, thats why he gets the chances even thou he is just a good rep for toure. caceres would be a good rep for dani.
oh and btw.. if u never seen uruguay play then you have no right to talk about caceres fouls.. ALL uruguayans play a VERY aggresive football. as in a lot of fouls.. but those are things Pep can get rid off in practice.

      • Fenderek says:

Oh I’ve seen Uruguay play- that’s exactly the reason why I don’t want their defenders anywhere near Barca side.
Busquets bad at passing? Yes, of course- he was particularly bad during the last Champions League final against Manchester. Man, all those inaccurate passes…
Tell me- are you Uruguayan by any chance? Cause I can’t think of any other reason why would anyone think that Caceres is a Barca quality. I am not saying he’s bad or terrible defender- I am saying he is not Barca quality. Wake up and smell the coffee. We need the best of the best- not players who can’t play in big games, play aggressive and therefore put the whole team at risk. We need fighters (Puyol)- but fighters who think on the pitch. It will be better for Caceres (he’ll get better, I’m sure), for Juventus (they’ll have a decent defender) and for Barcelona (we’ll get money for him, hopefully for Hleb, add some and buy someone decent) if he leaves.

      • Fenderek says:

Now, after Dynamo game- please do tell me how many bad passes by Busquets have you seen? I think you should be the one who should check with reality… or whatever that pigeon-English fraze was…
Please do tell me how many bad passes did Busquets have during the Inter game?

I think you're the one who is not in check with reality. Busquets is a Spanish international I don't think there is a better national team in the world a the moment. Not Barca quality? Wake up and smell the coffee. Or better yet-watch some Barcelona games with your eyes open…

        • Luimac says:

So to prove your points u only choose to pick the best games played by that player… silly me, i thought i was debating.
I never said Busquets is not barca material.. i said he is not 1st string barca YET… as in he can be. oh and btw the cdm in the national team is Senna not busquets.. Senna has been injured thats why he didnt play on qualifiers.
If u dont like uruguayan defense that ok.. I dont either.. but thats a different point to say caceres is not good enough for barca. Shit after the kiev game Valdez should never be our GK also.. but thats football.. we make mistakes..
          an btw im not uruguayan

          • Fenderek says:

You were the one who compared Busquets to Caceres. So I showed you the good games that Sergio played at Barcelona, recently (and quite important ones)- as a reason why people are not shouting "get rid of him". Not because he is from La Masia- but because he had some really good games and showed talent. I cannot for my life remember one good game that Cceres had at Barcelona. Simple as that. And that's a difference between them.

I never said Busquets is in Spain's first eleven though- i said he is in the team. Considering how good players Spain has in midfield that's a big thing in my book.

Believe me- I am the last one to shout "sack" after one or two mistakes. You're right- Valdes had two pretty bad games recently. But… It's a different thing to have one or two mistakes- it's yet another to be of a different class. IMO Caceres is not in the class of Barcelona. He is probably Juventus class, which is not bad- but he also needs regular football. If he came back to Barca- he would sit on the bench again. And the way I see it- this guy needs playing time like a fish needs water.

  24. Pieyanthikos says:

Would Caceres be satisfied about just being a back-up for Alves? I think not – it looks like he's only developing through a big amount of playing time, and Barca can't offer him that, neither as a CB or a RB.
Next summer we will have too many CB's: Puyol, Pique, Chygge, Marquez, Milito, Henrique, Caceres and back-ups in Fontas (RB as well) and Muniesa from youth – that's 9, minimum 7.We have to cut down to 4 or 5 in the first team, and I wouldn't pick Caceres for the spots. We have loads of upcomming potential in Fontas and Muniesa.
