FIFPro denounces Messi’s contract
According to French paper L’Equipe, Philippe Piat, President of the European section of the International Federation of Professional Players (FIFPro) announced yesterday that the union intends to file a complaint with the European Commission and FIFA about the new contract that Lionel Messi signed with FC Barcelona.
Barcelona however is calm about this criticism as the matter is yet to be made official, though as a precaution, its legal services is reviewing the details of the contract. According to the paper, Piat based his complaint on the length of the contract and the buyout clause, which was increased from €150 million to €250 million, which according to him “does not correspond with the spirit of the texts of FIFA”. Piat then reminded reporters that FIFA requires that “contracts should only last between one and five years”.
It must also be noted that despite Piat’s complaint, Messi was all smiles when he renewed the contract a few days ago. And what is strange about all this, where was he when Cristiano Ronaldo’s contract with Real Madrid, which expires in 2015 and has a buyout clause of €1 billion, was announced.
Wow…. 1 billion euro buyout clause. I thought it was just a rumour at first but it's insane! I guess they really did want to keep the Sheikhs away.
This is just insane! They have no problem with 1 billion euro, but 250€ that's not according to the FIFA text! Talk about double standards!

The whole thing just seems too ridiculous to be real, but yet there it is! Feels sometimes it's Barça vs. the whole world of football and the one who gets us down will get a price money from Real…!

Totally agree! Imagine if we had spent the amount that Real Madrid had… UEFA, FIFA, and whatever else there is would all be after us! However, since it was Madrid who spent all that money it's completely acceptable.
Phillipe Piat is jobless n stupid. guess he lost part of his memory. he just woke up after 4mths. cristiano sign till 2015, messi till 2016. guess, he still wanna giv crybaby ron9 d fifpro award 4 09. he should then convince his members not to vote 4 MESSI then. he sucks, bigtime! he should just eat shit. pheew!!
